Dennis "Dee Tee" Thomas, long time saxophonist with Kool & The Gang passed away in his sleep August 7. He was 70 years old. He was one of the original members, co-founding the band in 1964. He last performed July 4th at the Hollywood Bowl. In addition to the sax, Dee Tee also played flute and percussion. He also served as the master of ceremonies for the bands' shows. He has been described as the quintessential cool cat in the group, loved for his hip clothes and hats, and his laid-back demeanor. Obituary

Last weekend,Premiere paid tribute to Dennis-The countdown from 8/17/74 played "Hollywood Swingin'" & the countdown from 8/15/81 played "Take My Heart (You Can Have It)".

Wasn't Dennis the guy who played the saxophone solo on Kool & the Gang's 1985 hit "Cherish"?
