I'm currently listening to the top 30 countdown from this week in 1996 on Sirius-XM's ''90s On 9'. Julie Brown mentioned, but noticeably did NOT play, the #7 song: "I Can't Sleep, Baby" by R. Kelly. As far as I know, nothing similar has occurred with a chart song on a Casey-era 'AT40', has it? Been awhile since I've heard a relevant '72 or early '73 show, but I'd assume that Gary Glitter's two top 40 hits would still be played. Was Bill Cosby's "Little Ole Man" kept in the very first show (where it was an 'AT40 extra') the last time that show was played? That I don't remember.

I remember on AT20-AC back in 2003 when "Landslide" went 1-9-17-off. Casey played it every week it was on the chart and several times as an extra on both AT10 and AT20.
On the week it fell to #9, Casey mentioned that it tied the biggest drop out of the #1 spot with "The Lord's Prayer" and "Ships."
Of course with Christmas hits these days, stuff like that happens every January.

Of course that was due to the (then-Dixie) Chicks dissenting from the then-almighty Bush regarding the Iraq War, which had an even stronger effect at country radio, and regarding which Casey was probably as disgusted or confounded as I was then and now.

Credit to them for being way ahead of the curve on that. I don't think that credit has been given. It's long overdue.

I think Cosby's song (which was an extra, and kind of a dated song anyway) was omitted from the last 7/4/70 rebroadcast. If I recall right they had a December 1972 episode with Glitter's song at the end of 2019.

Of course with Christmas hits these days, stuff like that happens every January. When did they start taking December or more off on AT10? A quick glance at the #1s list shows that Christmas covers/newly-original fully-Christmas songs didn't start reaching the top until 2006 with Kimberley Locke's "Jingle Bells". But oddly enough, perhaps the biggest example of instant post-Christmas disappearance would in fact be right at the end of the Shadoe Stevens era, with "All I Want For Christmas is You" going 36-(36)-23-9-off. (On the Mainstream chart it was actually 36-23-9-off, but the frozen-marked week accounts for The Top 50 of 1994, and then they just used the 12/31 chart for the first week of January, and so forth.)

For the week ending 8/7/2021, Levitating the remix version with Dababy has been removed from the show and replaced with the moonlight edition.

Maybe on an upcoming 1970 AT40: The 70's show that Cosby "Little Old Man" song from the first AT40 show might be an OPTIONAL EXTRA now that Bill Cosby is free from jail recently.

Though Sirius XM still cut out his song from a replay of the debut show aired at the beginning of this July, after Cosby was freed. The other three extras in the show, all also from the 1960s, were left in place.

After Chris Brown beat up Rihanna in 2009, he quickly left the chart and it was more difficult for him to make a comeback and hasn’t scored a number one single since, at least on AT40.

Though he almost did 12 years after that incident: his "Go Crazy" hit #2 on the countdown earlier this year, becoming his first top 10 hit since 2012 and only his third (as a lead artist) since that beating.

Just over 45 years ago (June '76) Cosby reached #46 with a Barry White-ish comedy track titled "Yes, Yes, Yes". So he nearly made the 40 during the 'Casey era'. Thankfully, the 1969 Cosby LP track 'Spanish Fly" was NOT released as a single...

I listened to that show and checked with another fan who listened to it and we both thought they are still playing the DaBaby version. I am interested to see if they actually do make the change.

I don't understand how he continues to be so popular. The incident you mention was far from his only such episode, and he's also outright threatened people who disagree with him. And yet, zero backlash from radio and as strong a fan base as ever.
