There have been many great songs in the Rock n' Roll era that begin with harmonica solos. What are some of your favorites? I'll start with "And When I Die" by Blood, Sweat, and Tears from 1969.

Springsteen’s Thunder Road. Two Billy Joel songs kinda qualify... Piano Man starts with a few piano notes then a harmonica solo and the video version of You're Only Human has a harmonica start. Supertramp's Take the Long Way Home is another with a short keyboard intro, then here comes the harmonica.

I believe the single version of "Piano Man" would qualify because it cuts out the piano part at the beginning.

Is Billy Joel the king of harmonica solo beginnings? Or is it Stevie Oneder I mean Wonder?

How about--Good Girls Don't by the Knack. (although I think Frustrated wouldn't have been a better follow up to their #1 smash, My Sharona).
