Thanks Jim for all the great songs that I recall from the 1970's. May you R.I.P.

The story on how Midnight Train To Georgia was written is a great story. Jim called his friend Lee Majors one night only to get his girlfriend Farrah Fawcett who answered the phone. Jim asked Farrah what she was doing and she said she was getting ready to leave on the midnight plane to Houston to visit family. The phrase stuck with him and later the plane to Houston was changed to the train to Georgia.

I believe Jim also wrote "Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me" which was a hit for Gladys Knight & The Pips in 1974.

I believe Jim also wrote "Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me" which was a hit for Gladys Knight & The Pips in 1974. Gladys Knight & The Pips recorded several of Jim Weatherly's songs including "Where Peaceful Waters Flow" and "Neither One Of US (Wants To Be The First Say Goodbye)". Though "Neither One Of Us" fell short of the Top of Billbord's Hot 100 charts (#2), it did top the Billboard's R&B, Cashbox, and Record World charts.
