Elton John mispronounces "attached" in "Wrap Her Up" as does George Michael singing back ground vocals. Elton sings, "No strings at-TACH-ed" like it's a three syllable word (Money talks, see what it catches / Postage paid, no strings attached). Dan Folgelberg, in "Part Of The Plan", sings, "One day, we'll all un-DER-stand. One day, we'll all un-DER-stand. One day, we'll all un-DER-stand." I get that it had to fit the rhythm but it seems odd to accent the second syllable. The David Bowie song "Fashion" (not an AT40 hit but was on MTV often in its early years) has an odd accent like that in the line "you shout it while you're dancing on THE-uh-uhh...dance floor."

In Maneater, Hall & Oates pronounce "jaguar" as JAG-yoo-ar. T.Rex did the same in "Jeepster". Believe it's the common British pronunciation. Of course, H&O aren't British...

I was about to include "Smooth" by Santana, since I could swear that featured singer Rob Thomas was singing "Let's for-forget about it" at the very end. But when I checked the lyrics, I saw that it was actually "Let's DON'T forget about it", so that blew that out of the water (but I just thought I'd mention it anyway).

When Madonna sings "We are living in a material world," she says "li-ving" as though it's two words. That drove me crazy as a kid.

In the Human League's "(Keep Feeling) Fascination," the word "slide" is sung more like "Slade" to make it rhyme with "made." Actually, the word is "mislaid" (which, of course, does rhyme with made).

Speaking of Bowie, in "Let's Dance" he pronounces flower like "floh-ah." It wasn't until I looked up the lyrics online that I know what he was really saying. At various times I thought it was "boa" or "voa."

In "the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald", Gordon Lightfoot mentions the city of Deh-TROI-it. That's the Canadian pronunciation.

I get that it had to fit the rhythm but it seems odd to accent the second syllable. Fleetwood Mac does this in the chorus of "Dreams", singing "When the rain wa-SHES you clean, you'll know", even though the emphasized syllable is a schwa.
