Let’s turn this post into a guessing game. Here are the opening lyrics to three songs, all Top 40 hits from the 70s. Song titles *and* artists, please. 1) We-de-de-de, de-de-de-de-de de, we-um-um-a-way We-de-de-de, de-de-de-de-de de, we-um-um-a-way *********************************************** 2) Ooga-chaka Ooga-Ooga Ooga-chaka Ooga-Ooga Ooga-chaka Ooga-Ooga Ooga-chaka Ooga-Ooga *********************************************** 3) Doo doo doot, doo doo doot Doo doo doo doo doo doot Doo doo doot, doo doo doot Doo doo doo doo doo doot *********************************************** This may be too easy. Not a problem. Plenty of music trivia experts here. “You’re so rock steady, bam-a-lam. And you’re always ready, bam-a-lam.”

Number 3 has got to be "Thunder Island" by Jay Ferguson. Number 1 is "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" by The Tokens/Robert John

Guesses for 1 and 2 are correct. If 3 matched Jay Ferguson's song, it's a weird coincidence. Actually, 3 is in this weekend's 1/4/75 countdown.

"Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'," Michael Jackson: "Ma ma se, ma ma sa, ma ma cu sa." Actually that's 'mama say, mama sah. mama makossa', a 'sample'/homage to the influential 1973 record 'Soul Makossa' by Manu Dibango.

Seems like around late 2012, there's been more of the "whoa-oh-oh" and the like incorporated into many genres, which feels like it's still around today. Not to say it didn't exist before, but it feels like a different era of music.
I'll update this as I come across more, but here's what I have:
"Remember You Young" (Thomas Rhett) "Home" (Phillip Phillips) "Torches" (Daughtry) "Never Let You Go" (Kygo feat. John Newman)
