You know when a tune is so memorable that you sing it by nah nahing or doo dooing your way through the song? It might be fun to compile a list what singers actually did that in a Top 40 song. A few that come to mind:
* Howard Jones "whoa, whoa, whoa-oh-oh, whoa, whoa, whoa-oh-oh"ed his way through "Things Can Only Get Better". * Taylor Dayne "nah nah na-nah nah nah, nah nah na-nah nah nah"ed in between verses of "I'll Be Your Shelter". * John Denver "Hi-dee-aye" and "Hi-dee-oh"ed during parts of "Calypso". * The Rolling Stones notonly sang "doo doo doo doo doo" but include that in the title of "Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)" * Stevie Wonder both "doo doo doo doo doooo"ed and "doh da doh da doh"ed his way through "Superwoman (Where Were You When I Needed You)".
What are some other songs where a singer or group filled in areas of a song with... uh... non words?

Who could ever forget Dream Academy's "Hey-Na-Na-Na-Hey-Yoo-Uh-Nah-Yah (or something like that) in "Life In A Northern Town"?

In "I Ain't Got Nobody" (David Lee Roth's version, anyway), theres:
"Bop, boze-de-boze-de-bop, se-de-bop" and
"Humala bebuhla zeebuhla boobuhla humala bebuhla zeebuhla bop"
(Yes, I know "bop" is a real word, but the others are not - I don't think so, anyway)
In the bridge of "Sign Your Name" by Terence Trent D'arby, we hear "Shoo doo wop wop, bop shoo wop bop".

One of my favourite Motown singles didn't reach the billboard top 40 as it wasnt released in the states ,but Diana Ross had the single "Doobedood'ndoobe, Doobedood'ndoobe, Doobedood'ndoo" which got to the top 20 here in the UK in 1972

Another one that did not chart in the states, but was a hit in the UK and other countries around the World was the lone Ranger by Quantum Jump that used the name of the New Zealand town with the longest name in the world - Taumatawhakatangihangakoayauo-Tamateaturipukakapikimaungahoro-Nukypokaiwhenuakitanatahu

One of my favorite examples of nonsense lyrics is this from Oliver's "Good Morning Starshine":
Gliddy glup gloopy nibby nabby noopy la la la lo lo (followed by more gibberish).

Three from different eras in which the 'non-words' are part or all of the title:
1964: "Um, Um, Um, Um, Um, Um"--Major Lance, #5. Johnny Rivers remade it in '78 and just missed, peaking at #41 with his last chart single. He retitled it "Curious Mind", with the 'Um x 6' in parentheses. 1975: "(Shu-Doo-Pa-Poo-Poop) Love Being Your Fool"--Travis Wammack, #38. I'll bet the message board censors that title! (edit--they did not, surprisingly) 1993: "Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm"--Crash Test Dummies, #4

You could build a separate wing to house songs by the Police (or so it seems).
E-oh, e-oh, e-oh, e-oh and a De-Do-Do-Do De-Da Da-Da to you.

Lenny Williams had a Top 40 hit on the soul chart in 1977 with a song titled "Shoo Doo Fu Fu Ooh".
