Tonight's classic ACC presentation on KFYZ takes us back to 9/27/1986. It started later than usual - normally it would start at 6 central time but it went quarter past... perhaps it will end at 10:15 or thereabouts. This was the year where a lot of fast turnover happened at #1 (as well as the Top 40) back when once the song hit #1 for a week, that was it. Very rarely at the time would a song stay at #1 for multiple weeks as compared to now, but today the chart climb is slow.

Very rarely does a song spend 2 or more weeks at the top. In many cases, songs take several months to reach the top after their debut (like you mentioned), but once they hit #1 and then drop, they're gone within 2-3 weeks.

That's because of the recurring rule they have, a thing going back to the Radio & Records days where a song that's below #1 and loses bullet status for 3 weeks is moved to recurrent, as is the case for WSM-AM running classic CT40 shows. Speaking of they're running 10/13/2007 this week (last week was 10/6/2007, and two weeks ago they didn't run a show but ran a live performance instead). charismusicgroup.com/ACC%20Cue%20Sheets/CT40%202007-1013.pdfWith Luminate now partnering with Mediabase 24/7 starting in December, I wonder if that will mean changing the recurring rule on what a song is deemed recurrent? At least though it will end who's got #1 on Billboard and/or Mediabase (which just happens this week WSM-AM is airing where they used Mediabase but ACC was using Billboard and had two different artists/bands at #1).

That'll be an interesting scenario for sure. FYI, the rare #1 feat happened this weekend, as Luke Combs was on top for the second straight week. Jason Aldean had 3 weeks at #1 earlier this year with "Trouble With A Heartbreak", though only two weeks were consecutive.

Started pretty much on time this time around, and the #26 song on the cue sheet (which begins the 2nd hour) is the reason why KFYZ chose this show. We'll have to see if KFYZ may when they go to commercial play Loretta Lynn songs, as I know this week's ACC show will feature one of her songs.

Interesting thing I just noticed here. Officially, the chart has John Schneider followed by Louise Mandrell. However, Bob announced them the other way around.

It was very rare in the latter part of the 80s to have a #1 song stay at #1 for another week (2 weeks in a row) - wouldn't be until June 1987 in which a multi-week #1 happens again (3 weeks in this instance).

After the closing of Hour 1 in the 10/5/1985 show, the segment from the Ladies Of The 80s special about Loretta Lynn (from 5/28/1988) was played. She was at #23 in the special, #26 in this week's show. Twas a very nice addition.

A bit of a surprise this week: KFYZ is taking us back to the not-as-far distant past, 10/14/1995.

Oh my, a mid-90s show! And I recall hearing this on ACC Rewind when it was featured back 5 years ago, but the first hour is the one thing we missed until now. Quality of this show also sounds real good...

Oh my, a mid-90s show! And I recall hearing this on ACC Rewind when it was featured back 5 years ago, but the first hour is the one thing we missed until now. Quality of this show also sounds real good... One thing I noticed, my ACC Rewind copy of this show (which came from the old CT40 website when Bob was still alive) had the sponsor info left in during the show's close. The KFYZ broadcast removed them; I had noticed the final segment of this broadcast came in 22 seconds shorter than previous. Sure is a nice change to throw in a 1990s show; but very glad the 1980s are getting the most attention on these replays. Of course, every single one of those will need to be digitally remastered, which my understanding is most of them currently have been.

From 2015-2017 that was the case as if it was an original broadcast (though they didn't include scoped ads even though there were in those days - in the 70s/early 80s there were none). WSM-AM on their CT40 shows has left the billboard sponsors in for opening and closing (I do believe all the CT40 shows are already on CD quality so they don't need to be remastered). Whatever it is, the CT40 show this week is from 10/27/2007. charismusicgroup.com/ACC%20Cue%20Sheets/CT40%202007-1027.pdf

We go back to 1980 tonight, as KFYZ whisks us back in time to the week ending 10/18.
