Kind of odd to see 1984 pop up again so soon...

This evening while listening to last night's ACC show, I noticed that before song #13 they inserted "Wolf Creek Pass" by CW McCall. It was a clip from a Don Bowman hosted ACC show. Don calls it a "preview play" in the outro. Before song #3 they play another clip of ACC with Bowman, this time it's "Convoy". The clip has Bowman telling a story of CW McCall and the song "Old Home Filler up... Cafe", then introducing the new #1 up from #12 the previous week. I didn't listen to the show that closely, there may have been other songs played earlier in the show. Pretty neat... No explanation was given, but I love that they did it.

Those extras that KFYZ played were in honor of C.W. who passed away recently.

Yeah, I knew why they were doing it. Just wanted to share with others in case they hadn't caught the show. They were just inserted into the airing of the 1984 show without explanation... it was a good thing for sure :-)

That's three weeks in a row they've followed the Premiere 80s date. Will this be a continuing trend?

Who knows, if they do continue the trend, then we could get 4/19/1986 next week. It's possible...

Meanwhile CT40 wise, they're now into May as 5/5/2007 is presented. Opening theme is still the way it was since CT40 began (I understand there are slight variations to the theme for certain weeks). I think that changes soon (the closing theme was changed sometime in the summer I think). charismusicgroup.com/ACC%20Cue%20Sheets/CT40%202007-0505.pdf

KFYZ takes us back to 4/23/1988. Last year, 4/30/1988 aired. ETA: And with that, the "streak" is broken. No 1988 shows are airing this upcoming weekend from Premiere (1982 and 1985 are on the docket).

1988 hasn't been featured in a very long time, so it's nice to see that year pop up. So they didn't go with what Premiere went on this occasion, but still a 4-hour show is really cool especially the jingles at the time.

So they didn't go with what Premiere went on this occasion, but still a 4-hour show is really cool especially the jingles at the time. I also really like the jingles in place during this era. Now that I've heard all of them, this set is among my favorites. Last time 1988 was featured on KFYZ was 8/18/2021. I'm not sure how long this station has been playing ACC, and I just started catching it in March last year. This is only the third 1988 show, and it's the show adjacent to what aired last year. I don't know what aired on 4/21 last year, as I was in the midst of a major move that week (really two, as I was assisting with another move just a couple days after mine).

I liked that set as well, knowing that JAM did a great job creating the package while AT40 at the time was using FirstCom (now part of the Universal Production Music library) with JAM still used as number jingles. Those would change in 1989, first for AT40 and then ACC by the summer (with some JAM remaining in play). Speaking of new theme music for CT40, this week's CT40 show on WSM-AM from 5/12/2007 (Mother's Day weekend) features a new opening theme for the show. New jingles are also coming into play as well too, though some from the first CT40 theme package remain in use. charismusicgroup.com/ACC%20Cue%20Sheets/CT40%202007-0512.pdfETA: New closing theme is also heard, the top of hour theme is also new and the end of hour theme has been changed to the theme ACC used to close out the show from March 2003-May 2004. I did see that also be a top of the hour theme sometimes in the past few weeks.
