The Fox Oldies is starting the World Series of Pop Music 2020 this coming Monday, September 28th, at 12 noon central, 1pm eastern. 32 artists will start the competition, which will be single-elimination. The 32 artists chosen for this year's World Series won't be announced until they show up in the competition, but the previous winners will be barred, which eliminates the Beatles, Electric Light Orchestra, and Olivia Newton-John. Tune in to thefoxoldies.com at noon central Monday and Sam will give a more expanded rundown of how this will work.
Example: In the 1st match, Artist A vs Artist B, 2 songs will be played by each artist. After these 4 songs have been played there will be a period where you can email your choice to thefoxoldies@yahoo.com. The artist who receives the most votes will move on to the round of 16.

Here is what is coming up on the Fox in 2021:
Just now Sam announced that after Monday's A-Z list ends, it will be temporarily replaced with the Top 500 Classic Rock countdown he did on The Zew. Something else will take its place once it's done.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the Fox 50 Flashback countdown will feature 1979 and 1989 respectively.
On Fridays, the 1982-1991 countdown will be replaced with the top 2500 songs from 1964-1973. Unlike the previous two huge countdowns, it will start as 2500 and go all the way to #1 from there.
AMC on Wednesdays will remain the same, but I think sometime during the year, the live versions will resume after the pre-recorded ones wrap up.

In addition to the 2021 schedule, Sam also announced that on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, he will be running a special called American Christmas (I don't remember the exact name though). And on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, he will be running the top 100 of 1975 and 1985 to wrap up those respective years for the Fox 50 Flashback countdown. Times will be announced in the future.

Do you plan on posting the songs weekly for 1964-73 like you've done so perfectly on the 1982-91 countdown, Laura?

Wow, the Top 2500 of 64-73!!! That’ll be a blast. Sam, you're the best. The Christmas show sounds interesting too. Looking forward to 2021... for a whole lot of reasons. :-) Thanks for posting this info Laura.

The Fox 50 Flashback countdown will continue without me in 2021.
I regret that Sam continue with his same year all year long with 1979 and 1989 in lieu of playing a different year of the 70s and 80s every tuesday and thursday.
OK it's his choice and i respect it , i presume that his audience is ok with it.

Younger listeners like myself (30s and 40s) are particularly thrilled with the news that 1989 will be featured. Frankly, I wish perceived negative comments like this did not exist, after the year we've had, and during the holiday season. The Fox is a station to be treasured, and not criticized. I'm hoping another listener can post the countdowns weekly, with the Billboard, Cashbox and Radio & Record information, as it's a joy to read it weekly.

I think it's a more unique approach to doing a countdown instead of just choosing a random year. I think it's also easier for the guy who put the countdowns together. By the way, I'll ask Sam if he can provide the song lists for those countdowns as well so I can make the playlists every week.

His name is Jeffrey Lindenblatt. I just feel he's worth mentioning specifically because, without him, no countdowns.

Next Friday Sam will be wrapping up the 1982-1991 countdown by playing songs 1100-1001. It will start at 8 AM central like the other parts have been. This is because the last 50 would have been played on Christmas Day.
