The shortest-tenured member of the Bay City Rollers... replaced Alan Longmuir in 1976, then departed late the same year (or early next, depending on where you read) in favor of Pat McGlynn... and the first member not from Scotland (Northern Ireland)... but stayed long enough to be on their album Dedication, which produced three hit singles: "I Only Want To Be With You" (#12), "Yesterday's Hero" (#56), and the title cut (#60), on which he sang lead and co-wrote. Weirdly, as I write this, it's the anniversary of "IOWTBWY"'s début on the Hot 100 at #83... deadline.com/2020/09/ian-mitchell-dies-bay-city-rollers-bassist-on-dedication-was-62-1234569674/dL
