On Monday,an appellate court upheld a jury's verdict that Led Zeppelin's iconic "Stairway To Heaven" did not copy "Taurus",a much lesser-known song by the guitarist & singer Randy Wolf of the band Spirit who recorded it in 1968-Francis Malofiy, who represented the plaintiff, has this to say once the verdict had been rendered: "The court got it wrong-Led Zeppelin can be happy they won on a technicality, but that doesn't mean they won on the merits.Anyone who has heard the two songs at issue knows it's a blatant rip-off".

Speaking of "Stairway To Heaven",there was a group called Little Roger & The Goosebumps that did a mash up of both that song & the theme from "Gilligan's Island"-It was called "Stairway To Gilligan's Island" & was released in 1978-It's rather amusing to say the least.

I wonder if "Stairway to Heaven" was never released as a commercial single due to fear of litigation? If so, they knew they were doing something wrong in the first place, though radio stations favored the song a lot, and was the song that closed out many school dances over the years.
I am thinking Led Zeppelin are the prevailing party in the lawsuit, implying that Randy Wolf may be deceased, and Led Zeppelin may have ended up winning their case by default.
