There were so many great songs that were not Top 40 hits even on 12-1-79
The Flying Lizards-"Money" I found this 45 in a "hidden" spot in a record store a couple years ago. Goofy song, but I like it. Rainbow-"Since You've Been Gone"- a song written by Russ Ballard that was also a Hot 100 hit for Head East in 1978 The Cars-"It's All I Can Do"- peaked at #41 the previous week, just missed the Top 40 AC/DC-"Highway To Hell"- unfortunately Bon Scott would not have a US Top 40 hit with AC/DC due to his tragic passing just a couple months later.

AC/DC´s "Highway To Hell" reminds me of an "episode" of cassette recorders in the early 1980s. Recordings were automatically ended after exactly three minutes. Maybe the intention was to put a fixed number of songs on one tape. Thank goodness that didn´t catch on and so with the 12/22/84-show I could enjoy my first cassette recorder called "CT-X9". In addition to Dolby B and Dolby C, there was an auto-reverse function and a timer that switched the recorder on at a specific time. You could also choose between "Recorde" and "Play".
