Here is an article about the latest nominees for the Rock Hall of Fame--
By the way, shouldn't the Hall be renamed the Rock/Pop Music Hall of Fame?!

Pat Benetar and Whitney Houston should have been nominated 25 years after their first releases... 2005 for Pat, and 2010 for Whitney. These two should be slam dunks to get in this year.
I'd vote Dave Matthews in as well. This is what I don't get about how groups or artists are named for voting... Dave Matthews Band's first album was released in 1994, and he was immediately named as a possible entrant. Meanwhile, Pat Benetar and Whitney had to wait until this year for their first year of eligibility?!?!
I think The Doobie Brothers, Depeche Mode, 9 Inch Nails and Soundgarden all belong in the Hall of Fame but not in their first year of eligibility.
How did Think Lizzy make the list? I love "The Boys Are Back In Town" and "Jailbreak" but I guess they had enough albums to qualify?
Who else would have become eligible this year who wasn't named as a possible entrant?
Here are the top 5 vote-getters of October 26 at 6am: Pat Benatar 233350 Votes The Doobie Brothers 210581 Votes Soundgarden 204554 Votes Dave Matthews Band 189140 Votes Judas Priest 177452 Votes

This is definitely a mixed bag of inductees-I figured that Whitney Houston would get the nod-I'm happy The Doobies are going in-I'm kind of partial to the Tom Johnston era-However,Michael Mc Donald contributed some killer songs-T.Rex,in my opinion is a one-hit wonder-Americans only know them for "Bang A Gong"-However,their subsequent releases failed to catch fire in terms of chart performance.

In reference to T. Rex, it should be noted that they were massively successful in their native UK, and pretty successful in many other countries as well. In fact, from the fall of 1970 through the summer of 1973, T. Rex rattled off eleven straight Top 10 hits on the British Pop Charts, four of those going to #1. The late frontman Marc Bolan once stated that the band was so busy touring the rest of the world that they didn't have time for a US tour, which probably explains why they were mere one-hit wonders here.
