I really hate to be the one to point this out, but I was looking at the recap of today's 1979 countdown and a lot of things don't make sense. Three songs that were #4 on one chart are at #8, #9 and #12, while songs that were not as high are at #7, #10 and #11.
Also, Styx enters at #37 despite being no higher than #47 on any given chart. Isaac Hayes, two spots lower, was in the top 30 on two charts.

The guy who put it together appeared to have accidentally used the R&R chart from last week.

Don't forget that the radio & record charts are a week ahead of the others so a song can enter the R & R charts and will be in the other charts only the week after.

I think it's because back then radio stations would start playing the single before it would be released as a single, so that could be why R&R was always ahead. I also noticed around this time many songs would perform way better on there than the other three charts.
And yes, whoever put that recap together used last week's R&R chart but it has been fixed.

Styx debuted at #26 on R&R, so that's why it came on that high. The guy who put it together appeared to have accidentally used the R&R chart from last week. Thanks for the explanation. Thinking about it later, it finally occurred to me that the blog must have had incorrect data. It seems highly unlikely that the countdown itself was that far off, as it's been perfect every week so far.
