Another anomaly from the 1982-1991 has possibly been discovered. Janet Jackson's airplay-only hit, State Of The World, seems to be a bit too high. It's peaks were 4-8-x, and yet it placed above songs whose peaks were 4-5-8.
For the record, I wasn't implying that Sam should re-record the show. That was something he himself mentioned as being a possibility. But unless the show is going to repeat at some point, it doesn't seem necessary.

I believe he said himself that he may re-record it in the future to fix that, so it was more his idea and no one suggested it to him. As for the Janet song, I'm not sure how that came about.

The anomaly you discovered is that The Billboard airplay chart appears to be used for State of the World and Do the Bartman. Bartman at number 1005 peaked at 9-22-x and ranks ahead of Lovin Every Minute of it and Break it to me Gently, which both peaked at 9-12-12. The 11 peak on the BB airplay chart helps Bart and the 5 peak on BB airplay helps Janet. The BB Hot 100 wasn't used for the radio hits of 1990-91. Maybe this opens the door for a big 1992-2000 countdown, noting that Cashbox closed up shop in November 1996.

Apparently, some people got royally peeved that I'd bring it up at all. It wasn't meant to be disrespectful, it's just my nature to question things that don't look right. I'd have loved to be a professional editor.

Apparently, some people got royally peeved that I'd bring it up at all. It wasn't meant to be disrespectful, it's just my nature to question things that don't look right. I'd have loved to be a professional editor. I actually took your question as a sign of respect and more than anything, a really strong interest in a great show. I think the fact that Sam and Jeffrey read these comments on the AT40 Fun & Games site, they tend to think comments are more like the VJ errors. Of course, the VJs could care less about error comments and have more fame and fortune (allegedly,) but a smaller entity may take chart conversations like this as criticism. I think, more than anything, it's a discussion by people who are fascinated by the charts, and love the great music associated with the charts, and really care about The Fox. Jeffrey even went on to say that Billboard data was used on State of the World and Do The Bartman, because both of these airplay hits actually hit the Cashbox Top 100 also. Tell Me I'm Not Dreaming, and Into the Groove were R&R only, so all radio hits are not created equal! Question answered, and in doing so, both of those songs are properly placed in the Top 2500. If you want to argue that Billboard data should have been thrown out because they did not hit the BB Hot 100, Jeffrey told those chart-followers that they are not wrong. Now...on with the countdown.

Imagine if a certain someone on that VJ error thread heard about these.Anyway, here are the playlists for last week's shows. I got distracted by quite a few things, hence why they are late: we.tl/t-exCznUSoE1

Sam has not been feeling well lately and has posted in the Fox Chat that he has pneumonia and is in the hospital. Let's all be mindful of him and send him our well wishes.

According to the chat, Sam is doing better but is still taking some time to recover, so all of the usual special programming will be put on hold until he is healthy enough to resume it.

Good news! A couple of others in the chat room confirm that Sam is out of the hospital and doing better! I don't know how long it'll take until he's fully OK but it's good to hear that he's fine.

Next Tuesday both the 2/24/79 and 3/3/79 shows will air, with the first at 8 AM and the second at 2 PM, both central times. The same will more than likely happen for 1989 that Thursday.

This Thursday 2/25/89 and 3/4/89 will both air, with the first at 8 AM and the second at 2 PM. 2/18 will be played at a later date because it was originally supposed to air a couple weeks ago but Sam's power went out for a while and it never got aired.
So to make things clear for anyone who's confused:
The two 1979 countdowns will air tomorrow (2/24 at 8 AM and 8 PM & 3/3 at 2 PM and 2 AM Wednesday) The two 1989 countdowns will air Thursday (2/25 at 8 AM and 8 PM and 3/4 at 2 PM and 2 AM Friday); the 2/18 countdown will air maybe on a Saturday according to Sam, but he has not decided when it will play.
