I know this is sort of off topic for all of the forums, but I just thought that since we all talk on these boards on a regular basis it would be fun to have a bit of a background on who we all are. I know some of us know each other through personal email and the weekly chats (that I can unforuntately never attend due to my college schedule) but I thought this would be kind of cool to get to know who we talk Casey and AT40 with.
My name is Brett (I bet you are shocked!) and I am a freshman at Allegheny College in Meadville, PA -- which is about 30 miles from Erie and about 2 hours from Pittsburgh. My hometown is in Hudson, Ohio which is about 20 miles from Akron and 30 miles from Cleveland. I was born and raised in Northeast Ohio.
I first became interested in radio in 8th grade, and got my first taste of Casey Kasem around that same time. By 9th grade I knew radio was something I would persue in life. This past February 1st, I had my first shift on WARC/Meadville, the Allegheny College radio station. I've learned quite a bit about radio during my two months on the air, and while it has not all been "Happy Go Lucky" (the name of my show) it is something I love doing and hope to continue to do throughout college, and perhaps beyond? In my first two months on the air, I have already done music shows, filled in for a talk show host (that was definitely the most fun actually), and been yelled at by the PD for not sticking to the format. Good times.
Outside of radio, my other hobbies and interests include roller coasters and amusement parks, other various collections, Disney World, stand up comedy, and Cleveland Indians baseball. My favorite TV shows include Seinfeld, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, and my guilty pleasure, the new hit show Desperate Housewives.
I plan on being a Communication Arts major in college with a minor in Political Science.

My name is Matt, I'm 36 (about to be 37) and was born in Palatka FL, about an hour south of Jacksonville (those of you from the J'ville area probably remember Palatka being the butt of many a joke by the Greaseman and Hoyle Dempsey, among other legendary J'ville radio figures). I now live in Hollywood FL. I got interested in AT40 at age 10, after stumbling across it on the radio while on the way home from church one day. Instantly hooked. I'm a Casey purist, don't mind Shadoe (he tried really hard) and have no use whatsoever for Seacrest Out. Started collecting the shows on record and CD about a year ago, as well as Dick Clark's National Music Survey, Casey's Top 40, The Top 40 Satellite Survey and Rick Dees Weekly Top 40, of which I have one or two examples of each. Also have the AT40 Yearbook from 1979 (covering 1978) as well as Rob Durkee's and Pete Battistini's books, which are invaluable. Also have a huge Joel Whitburn book collection, and am proud to say I own one 45RPM Picture Sleeve that even he doesn't have. Awaiting my copy of the 1979 Disco Special, as well as 3 other countdowns I'm buying on CD. Every show is an instant time capsule, and reminds me of a much simpler time. Now, on with the countdown.

I am Paul....which everyone knows. I am 27, married, one newborn. Originally from Jacksonville and as most regular chatters know, I couldnt stand it there! So, I am now where I belong in the Orlando area in school studying to be a preacher....no, I am not kidding.
I first found out about Casey from his old TV show, Americas Top 10 which aired Saturday at noon on WJXT(liberaljag will be familiar with the station).

Nothing to be ashamed of. I admire those who can devote so much of their lives to religion. My girlfriend's father is a preacher, and I have great respect for him.

I know, I am not ashamed of it. I was just saying I am not kidding because sometimes people say things like that in jest.

I can remember watching America's Top 10 on Saturdays at noon as far back as 1980, when "Sailing" and "Another Brick in the Wall" were hitting number one!! I remember setting my tv watching schedule around that program!! Charlie Tuna was the announcer. It's frightening to put an actual timeline on just how long I've been a geek about this stuff.

My name is Jerome, and I am 32 and I live in Southfield, MI (a suburb just north of Detroit). I work for a company called Pitney Bowes Management Services where I am a customer service associate, and I am also a real estate investor. I am also a student at Wayne State University (Casey's alma matter), and I am a Media Arts media. I plan to be a Voice Over Aritst. I began listening to AT40 at age 14, when I was at a relative house and my cousin was listening to the Top 100 songs of 1986 in his bedroom. I started listening to the show a couple months later, and the show has been in my life ever since. My interest in radio began around that same time, although I have been listening to music my whole life. I have been collecting AT40 shows for almost 4 years now, and I listen to a show from my collection every weekend, and occasionally, during the week. I have Rob Durkee's book, but I don't have Pete Battistini's yet. I also have a huge Joel Whitburn book collection. Besides radio, my other hobbies includes bike riding, reading, working out in the gym, collecting maps, sports statistics, boots, glasses with tinted lenses and sunglasses. AT40 now and forever.

I just remember re-runs of Land of the Lost running right before it

Was that the mid-'70's original LOTL or the early 90's remake?

You should get the DVDs of seasons one and two. What I remembered as being thrilling and exciting now has the same campy effect that the 60's "Batman" series has on me now as an adult. I never saw the 90's one. Just remember reading about it.

Season 3 is the "Uncle Jack" year, right? lets all sing..... Will and Holly Marshall, as the earth beneath them trembled, lost their father through the door of time. Uncle Jack went searching and found those kids at last, looking for a way to escape................ from the LAAAAAAAAAANNND OF THE LOOOOOOOOOST. Yes it is, this is the 3rd and final season. Had everyone returned it probably could have made it a couple more years. But the dad left the show and hasn't been found by anyone trying to contact him since.
