2/16/1980 (listening on the Classic AT40 channel): I heard noticeable record pops and skips during Casey's end-of-the-hour outro at the end of the second hour, and some not-as-noticeable pops during Too Hot. For reference, the show aired in 2011 and in 2015 as a "B" show. Very interesting, this had to be an early vinyl transfer. Show was remastered from first generation reel to reel by me in September of 2016. There are a lot of shows that originally had to come from the best source of vinyl available that created V1.0 of my personal library. However, I am close to 80% complete or better of a complete turnover of those from the original reels. The sonic quality is remarkably improved as it's first generation. I was told by Premiere to NOT send them the upgraded versions. Thus, there are shows from the 70's and 80's that are in much better shape that won't be heard.

The skip is definitely NOT because of the stream. I got the show from several stations and they all had that skip. The 2014 copy of the show also has that skip. Premiere must be using a bad copy of the show. I also have a copy of the original show (i.e. not the Premiere version) and it doesn't have that skip. The same kinds of things happened on the 9/5/87 show when it first aired back in 2013. I didn't listen to the repeated version of it in the last couple years to see if they cleaned it up, but a number of record pops and a bad skip during T'Pau "Heart and Soul". I'm guessing an oversight on the part of the show editors/producers. It seems like many of the songs on these remastered versions have been full out replaced with clean CD audio versions of the songs (if you listen closely you can hear the edits right where Casey's intro ends and his outcue begins). On rare occasion, this has resulted in Premiere inserting an odd version or remix of the song. After seeing these comments, I had to look this one up. This show was taken from the master reels in the vault by me in May 2016 so what aired is certainly an outdated, lesser quality version.

Listening to 9/25/1982 on the Classic AT40 channel: Pops and cracks during The One You Love (#32) and well as come cracks during the story that's on after (though some of it might be from saliva rather than the record).

Love On the Rocks sounded awful. It sounded like the 45 was rubbing against the turntable.

Heard some pops early in the 1/27/1979 show, which I'm currently listening to. Got cleaned-up copies of the 1/20 and 2/3 shows. But a lot of the show copies from vinyl transfers I have still sound good - no complaints here.

I can hear some record pops during Leader of the Band on the 2/20/1982 show.

I can hear some record pops during Leader of the Band on the 2/20/1982 show. I heard those too, but I really don't mind the sound of vinyl pops every once in a while. In a way, it sort of makes it unique. The bigger issue with the 2-20-82 show is that there is still a minor skip in "One Hundred Ways."

Hmm.....Why would Premiere not want a better quality version of the shows

The 3/3/79 show, airing on SiriusXM this weekend, had audible record pops as well.

The Entertainer was about the worst I have heard from start to finish.

The Entertainer was about the worst I have heard from start to finish. I think I heard background snaps, crackles, and pops in that and "Sunshine On My Shoulders". And I was listening over TuneIn, not over the air where standard radio static might have been an issue. Even if Premiere's copy of this show was less than perfectly remastered for whatever reason, I've heard worse sounding shows from this period. A couple of spring 1974 shows aired by Sirius XM had such poor and muffled sound that Casey sounded almost like he was broadcasting from under water.

Today's the Day sounded warped, bad, on the 1976 show. I noticed that too in other songs in the first hour. It sounded like the original vinyl copy had an off center groove or a warp to it. Those could be things that are most difficult to rectify in the remastering process perhaps

H&O and Debbie Gibson either skipped or they were really poor edits, I couldn't tell. But either way, they both sounded really bad.
