They were very noticeable during Lady and again during It's My Turn on this weeks 1980 broadcast. Was this from the source material? Attributable to the 'Net stream I was listening to?

I skipped this one since I got it back in 2013 and didn't have much desire to listen to it again. It wouldn't be the only show that's had some record pops or noise from the original source. I feel like there is a show every now and then that has less than clean audio.

Those were not re-mastered, IIRC. I sure noticed the pops a lot more in 2002 than I had in 1982!

Probably due to the fact that records deteriorate over time (even if they aren't played) and it is getting more difficult to find good needles, as well. Glad that the shows have been remastered (in digital) so that future generations can enjoy music (and the countdowns) we grew up listening to.

I vaguely remember hearing an early 80's show with a skip in one song. Not a great era for vinyl.

I'm listening to the 12/12/1987 show on KABQ right now and I'm hearing record pops during We'll Be Together.

I'm listening to the 12/12/1987 show on KABQ right now and I'm hearing record pops during We'll Be Together. There's also a jump/skip on the #30 song "Crazy" during the line "Hey I'm a lucky guy without a reason and I don't understand"

I'm listening to my copy of the original 12/12/1987 show, and I don't hear any skips or pops. The skip could be in the stream; that's happened to me before. It could possibly explain the pops too. Many of the shows I have sound fairly clean throughout.

I was using headphones when I heard the pops I heard; I'll listen to the song on Magic 98 again with the headphones and see if I hear the same thing.
ETA: I decided to hear it without the headphones and I still heard them just I did yesterday with them on.

Many of the shows I have sound fairly clean throughout. The skip is definitely NOT because of the stream. I got the show from several stations and they all had that skip. The 2014 copy of the show also has that skip. Premiere must be using a bad copy of the show. I also have a copy of the original show (i.e. not the Premiere version) and it doesn't have that skip.

^ Thanks for the clarification; I just know the things being described aren't heard in my original copy of the show.

The same kinds of things happened on the 9/5/87 show when it first aired back in 2013. I didn't listen to the repeated version of it in the last couple years to see if they cleaned it up, but a number of record pops and a bad skip during T'Pau "Heart and Soul". I'm guessing an oversight on the part of the show editors/producers. It seems like many of the songs on these remastered versions have been full out replaced with clean CD audio versions of the songs (if you listen closely you can hear the edits right where Casey's intro ends and his outcue begins). On rare occasion, this has resulted in Premiere inserting an odd version or remix of the song.

I've been listening to the Top 100 of 1981 on the Classic AT40 channel and I've heard some record pops throughout the show.

2/16/1980 (listening on the Classic AT40 channel): I heard noticeable record pops and skips during Casey's end-of-the-hour outro at the end of the second hour, and some not-as-noticeable pops during Too Hot. For reference, the show aired in 2011 and in 2015 as a "B" show.

I heard some snaps, crackles, and pops during "Nadia's Theme" on the 12/11/76 show played by Sirius XM last month. Though SXM doesn't always seem to play remastered or otherwise optimal-sounding shows. Some of those they've aired have muffled segments in which Casey sounds almost like he's under water.
