Michael Jackson had a few throughout in his career. Ones that come to mind:
"I Just Can't Stop Loving You" - MJ could not sound cornier in the speaking parts, especially when coupled with some of his tough guy hits of the time, like "Bad". That wasn't a great song to begin with, but MJ's speaking parts are cringe-worthy. "Heal the World" - a syrupy, schmaltzy song that could only have been a hit for Michael Jackson and nobody else. Michael had some good ballads, but this one was over the top, to put it mildly. "The Girl Is Mine" - "Paul, I already told you: I'm a lover not a fighter!" Ugh...again, MJ should've avoided speaking parts in his songs. "She's Out of My Life" - all the crying...always makes me chuckle when I hear this song and I think of Eddie Murphy's comedy bit about it. "Tito give me some tissue...Jermaine stop teasing!"

This has more to do with the sounds in the song but "Jungle Fever" by Chakachas. It is embarrassing to have that song come on if you are a teenager or kid listening in 1972 in front of parents or any older person with the moaning sounds. The noises in that song are tame compared to the end of "Big Love" by Fleetwood Mac from 1987. You can also include that years' "I Want Your Sex" . I have to turn it off when my kids are around when they come on.

Michael Bolton had some embarrassing moments too--not the least of which was his remake of "Dock of the Bay"...still my vote for the worst remake ever. I find his most embarrassing hit to be "Can I Touch You... There?", which made Casey's Top 40 back in 1995.

Charlene's "I've Never Been To Me" also comes to mind. I'll never understand how that song even saw the light of day.

You can thank/blame Scott Shannon for the reason Charlene's song was big.

A pair of songs from late '72-early '73 come to mind (though not happily):
1. Funny Face by Donna Fargo. The sappiness of the lyrics are made especially intolerable by Ms Fargo's lisp-heavy singing voice. (Although I do like "Happiest Girl In the Whole USA.")
2. It Never Rains In Southern California/Albert Hammond. Hearing him whimper "I'm underloved, I'm underfed. I wanna go HOOOOOME!" make ME wanna SCREEEEEAAAMMM!

In 2002, Khia had a song called "My Neck, My Back." The lyrics make me wanna vomit.
Right Said Fred's 1992 hit "I'm Too Sexy" was embarrassing to me - not for the lyrics, but for personal reasons.

I don't know about your personal reasons, but I and probably millions more do indeed consider the "I'm Too Sexy" lyrics quite embarrassing.

I'm so sorry to the original poster. I'm gonna to mention two songs that did not make the top 40, but they did make the Hot 100. These two songs are right up there with Meri Wilson's "Telephone Man" and Chakachas' "Jungle Fever" for songs I had to turn down when parents or certain friends were around:
#58 • December 23 1978 • oooh, just in time for Christmas • Musique • In The Bush #62 • March 26, 1983 • Berlin • Sex (I'm A)

It's not really that embarrassing when you consider that song was a total novelty cut, and was meant to be satirical. I always got a laugh out of it...

If I'm at the beach with AT40 cranked up, I'll hit the mute button if these come up in the countdown:
* "The Teddy Bear Song" -- Barbara Fairchild. * "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights" -- Freddy Fender. * "Elvira" -- Oak Ridge Boys.
