Hello everybody and welcome to this thread "Biggest moves and drops". It will show you the biggest moves and the biggest drops for every week of the AT40-shows during the 80s. But first, let´s take a quick look at the position which might be the most important - the #1-position: Who has the biggest move into the #1-position during the 80s ? 25 songs entered the #1-position from #4, 11 songs from #5, but there´s only one song that entered the #1-position from #6: It´s the first song featuring rapping that hit #1 and it mentions a hip hop and graffiti artist, who also appears in the video for the song. The band is an American rock band, which was founded back in 1974. The band´s singer also was the singer of the band "Wind in the Willows" and the band´s guitarrist also was guitarrist of the band "Stilettos". The band is " Blondie" and the song is " Rapture". It entered the #1-position from #6 on 3/28/81. And who has the biggest drop from the #1-position during the 80s ? Well, the biggest drop from the #1-position during the 1980s comes from a movie based on characters and events from the Great Train Robbery. It stars the musician, who played as the only artist at the Live-Aid-concert (7/13/85) on both stages in London and in Philadelphia. The movie is "Buster", the musician " Phil Collins" and the title " Two hearts". It fell from the #1-position, where it peaked for two consecutive weeks, down to #10 on 2/4/89. In second place (falling from #1 down to #8) there´s a tie between "On my own" by Patti LaBelle & Michael McDonald (7/5/86), "Bad medicine" by Bon Jovi (12/3/88) and "Forever your girl" by Paula Abdul (6/3/89). And finally there are five songs, who fell from #1 to #7: "Don´t you want me" by The Human League (7/24/82), "Like a virgin" by Madonna (2/2/85), "Jacob´s ladder" by Huey Lewis & The News (3/21/87), "I knew you were waiting (for me)" by Aretha Franklin & George Michael and "Roll with it" by Steve Winwood (8/27/88). The list of all "biggest moves and drops" comes with the next post. And special thanks to laura for sending the biggest moves and drops from the 1985-countdowns. Have fun with this thread.

I have all of 1985's biggest movers and droppers listed somewhere. I'll get to those soon if that's OK.

I have all of 1985's biggest movers and droppers listed somewhere. I'll get to those soon if that's OK. Thank you very much, laura. Of course it´s OK - "Two heads are better than one." or "Four eyes see more than two.". Currently I´m checking the overviews from the March-countdowns 1980-1984 and I´ll post them as soon as I´m ready.

#15 (+18): Genesis - Misunderstanding #36 (-25): The Charlie Daniels Band - In America Actually it was Give Me The Night that moved 15-33 33-15. "Misunderstanding" did fall 14-33 on the August 30, 1980 show, two weeks after the one you referenced above, so that may have been what he was thinking of.
