Ever since Seacrest took over, the quality of AT40 turned upside down, JMO. I listened to some of Seacrest's first broadcast nearly 8 years ago this coming week, and after that, I tuned AT40 out. I may have it playing in the car, but that's about it. Not to mention that artists/groups I grew up with are getting up there in age, and rarely make the top 40 anymore. And if they do hit the top 40, their sound of today is not that appealing to me. Plus always closing out the show with "Seacrest, out!" was annoying and repetitive (thankfully he doesn't say it anymore, if I am correct). Casey Kasem did a much better job closing out the show during his days.
Heck, I'd take reruns of 1980's AT40 any day over the Seacrest crap!

The 1st time I heard Seacrest was in 2004 or so, when Core Fresh Hits for The UK station started taking the show and honestly that made me happy, after a long time AT40 was heard again and I remember sung jingles were used, similar to the ones used in Shadoe´s era. IMHO it was with the American Idol thing when the show went down hill and now with that thing of gossip it is terrible. I only listen to because it is AT40, thou I found Ryan as a decent DJ , it is the format of the show .
I have one of those AT40 shows with Ryan as subhost I want to have time to listen to, but sometimes the quality of the acts and songs is terrible too. I heard a couple of days ago a regular AT40 from 2001 with Casey and it looks like Disney Top 40, with all those boy bands and Britneys in the 40, I could not remember music in 2001 was that bad.

Ryan subbing for Casey was good. He had to obviously do that format of the show and not the one now.

You make a very good point regarding the early days of Ryan's AT40 hosting. For me, the "sound" of the show was still good (though I didn't like all the gossip and interviews. But when jingles fell by the wayside, it just wasn't the same for me as I'm a radio jingle junkie.

Just my impression, but it seems to me that there's been somewhat less gossip/interviews on Ryan's AT40 lately. Rather, they've been playing more extra songs; last week's show had 10 extras (some were optional), as many as I've ever heard in any incarnation of AT40.
And "Seacrest--out!" hasn't been used on AT40 in the last six years or so. Unlike Casey and Shadoe, Ryan hasn't used any regular signoff phrase since to my knowledge, nor does he read the credits nowadays (though he used to). A typical signoff is simply a few sentences about the chart or something he'd like to promote (such as American Idol) over a generic-sounding techno backing track, and then it usually cuts off as soon as he stops talking.

It appears Sacha Baron Cohen is not a fan of Ryan Seacreast. On the Ocsar arrival show, Sacha appeared as 'The Dictator' and dumped ashes on Ryan Seacreat's tux.

It just goes to show that Sacha Baron Cohen has no class.

It just goes to show that Sacha Baron Cohen has no class. I never understood why everyone thought Borat was really funny. I saw it once. It was "ok" and that's being kind. Maybe it's just not my taste.
