"I'm A Happy Man" also made it to #2 on WMCA in July 1965. Love comparing charts. Again apologies to Joe for digressing from the Cashbox thread. I'm A Happy Man by the Jive Five spent only two weeks in the Cash Box Top 40 (September 11 & 18, 1965). Ii you like I have a countdown from the week ending September 11, 1965 that I recorded that I never posted but will be glad to add to the list so others can hear this song you are talking about. Joe Joe, that would be great. I'm guessing we might also hear from Sonny and Cher...and Sonny...and Cher...etc. etc. etc.

Joe I love any countdown you have--I always listen during the week of the countdown. This week I am listening to previous countdowns you did from 7-9-66, 7-10-65 and 7-11-64/70. Bring them on pretty please!

Same here. I get in a 60s mood from time to time, and thankfully, we now have some countdown shows to listen to from that fabulous decade. 🙂

Sort of by request, here is the countdown of the Top 40 from Cash Box Magazine for the week ending September 11, 1965--look for I'm A Happy Man by the Jive Five, in addition to Donovan's 2nd Top 40 hit and some duo that appears twice in the Top 40. Joe archive.org/details/1965091101

Joe archive.org/details/1965091101 Joe, this makes six published Cash Box Countdowns to include You Were On My Mind by We Five in the Top 40. Is that a record? Or maybe a record for songs that didn't reach #1? EDIT Looks like Hey Jude was on six shows too. It's hard to imagine a song on more shows than Hey Jude which was in the Top 40 for 24 weeks, pretty much unheard of in the 1960s. BTW what a great bonus countdown. There's something so intense and bittersweet about late summer. The nostalgia is painful. I always think of William Holden and Kim Novak dancing in the movie Picnic.

Enjoying the 7-15-67 Countdown very much! Surprised to hear that Gentle On My Mind by Glen Campbell only reached #85 on CB, as it was pretty popular on TV shows where Glen performed. It reached 62 on BB which is 23 notches higher than CB, but way shy of the Top 40. I am surprised that later in Glen Campbell's career that the song wasn't re-released or did I miss that?

Jeff, Gentle On My Mind first charted in Summer of 1967 not making the Top 40 on any chart( BB--62/RW--74/CB--85)--then the song re-charted a little over a year later in the Fall of 1968 (BB--39/RW--86/CB--103). I do believe the song was played on lots of Easy Listening stations (today's A/C) and featured on Glen's Goodtime Hour show , which is why most of us are so familiar with the song. I was sort of surprised myself that the song didn't perform better on the Pop charts. Joe

I Want To Hold Your Hand also has been on 6 countdowns--five weekly: 1-25-64, 2-15-64, 2-29-64, 3-21-64, and 4-11-64, and the Top 100 of 1964.

Joe, did GOMM fare well on the Country Charts? Glen Campbell made it to #21 on the Cash Box Country chart in September 1967 (and the Top 40 on the Billboard & Record World Country listings), while it made it to #11 on the Record World Easy Listening chart in August 1967; however, I didn't see it listed on the Billboard Easy Listening chart during 1967.

"Gentle on My Mind" peaked at #8 on the Billboard Easy Listening chart. It debuted on 10/12/68 and only spent 7 weeks on the chart (Top 40 at that time).

I guess this means that, so far, we have found three songs that were in seven countdowns (including year-end countdowns) and one of those songs did not make it to #1. I always had a feeling that You Were On My Mind appeared a lot, even before this latest addition. It looks like it barely made it both coming to and going from the Top 40.

I looked up You Were On My Mind, and Joe's Countdown featured the aforementioned song on 8-7-65's show (first week in the Top 40), and the 11-13-65 show, which was the song's final week in the CB Top 40. Truly amazing that the song didn't hit #1. All those weeks sure racked up the points because YWOMM was ranked #10 for the year.
