In 1988, K-Tel released a 60s garage band CD called "Battle Of The Bands". Definitely my favorite K-Tel compilation, it included "A Question of Temperature" by the Balloon Farm, the Shadows of Knight's "Shake", and "Blue's Theme" by Davie Allan and the Arrows.
I know that you can purchase and download pretty much anything you want, and I have on occasion. For some reason, I always preferred the physical media. Through the years, I've been able to find CDs containing the above songs that were digitally remastered, etc. The one track which I never found an updated version is "Road Runner" by the Gants.

My sister had one called "Fantastic", from around '73. It had "Tie A Yellow Ribbon...", "Morning After", "Rocket Man" and Rod Stewart's "Twisting The Night Away" amongst others. I had one called "Music Power" from '74-ish. I loved that album. it had "Smoking In The Boy's Room", "Spiders and Snakes", "Two Dived By Love" and a song I've had a very tough time finding over the years, "By The Devil I Was Tempted" by a group called Blue Mink. Loved that song. Finally found it on youtube a few years ago. Fantastic was the very first album I ever owned. It also had "Crocodile Rock," "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia," "Little Willy," "Hocus Pocus" and "The Twelfth of Never," among others. Yeah, that's the one! I remember those songs on there. "Crocodile Rock" and "Little Willy" also appeared on Music Power that I had, iirc.

As others have mentioned, I loved "Fantastic", and also "Believe in Music". It had Brandy, Long Cool Woman, Backstabbers, Maggie May.

About 10 years ago my dad bought me a K-Tel record set from a garage sale as a gag gift for me. I kept it though. It's "Disco Fire", and included instructions on how to do dance the "Hot Chocolate":

I bought this one used in about the early to mid-'90s. It had the full album version of "Sweetheart," which you'll never hear anywhere else -- not on Rhino's Radio Daze collection, not on satellite radio.
