Has WGHN dumped the '80s show? It's 5:19 PM central, and it isn't on. The station ran the show earlier today around noon. |

New station alert. KIOA 93.3 out of Des Moines,Iowa has announced on their facebook page that they will be running the 80's show starting at 8 a.m. eastern time on Sundays. This is great news for Des Moines radio listeners because no station in the market has had the show since Premier starting offering these shows.

New station alert. KIOA 93.3 out of Des Moines,Iowa has announced on their facebook page that they will be running the 80's show starting at 8 a.m. eastern time on Sundays. This is great news for Des Moines radio listeners because no station in the market has had the show since Premier starting offering these shows. Good pick up. Another 4 hour version. KIOA's call letters are legendary in Iowa. In the 50's thru the early 80's KIOA,940 on the a.m. dial at the time,was the big top40 station in Des Moines and around Iowa as it's daytime signal boomed across the state. In the early 80's,they went oldies and several years later the call letters were moved to 93.3 FM. Mark Elliott,who subbed for Casey and had his own countdown show,worked at KIOA for three years in the 1960's using the name Sandy Shore. Another KIOA d.j. named Frosty Mitchell is known for going over to Vet's auditorium and doing a sock hop after a snowstorm stranded people after the 1959 girls state basketball final game. He later went on to own several stations in Iowa and the midwest,and also did play by play of Iowa Hawkeye football games and commentary on television broadcasts of state high school basketball games. Frosty still does radio and televisions commercials for an amusement park near Des Moines called Adventureland,he records these ads in Florida where he lives. The studio where he records these spots is owned by some dude named Jimmy Buffet.

KIOA didn't play the first hour optional extra because of the full compliment of ads in the first hour. I will not be able to monitor if they play the other optional extras because of church.

Apparently, this station has gone back to airing the '70s show. I don't believe it has not played the '80s show for some time. Played '78 today.

I don't believe it has not played the '80s show for some time. Played '78 today. Wow... really? I haven't checked much for WLDE since they last played 80s show I've last listened in mid April. Then since, I haven't listened checked much. I'm guessing it was just a test feedback to see if 80s was best, but really hasn't. Wow so was this the first time in awhile going back to the 70s, or was these played 70s few weeks ago? If it will continue 70s, I will continue to listen to those. |

This is an odd duck. On it's website, it says the show is from 4-8 EDT. I checked it at 4pm, and they were just starting the top 10. So it seems like they actually start at 1pm. So, I added it to the 1pm-5pm slot. I did not check at 5pm, which is where we have it, so I will leave it there for now as well.
