UGH! It happened again just now. As we were approaching the Top 30 of 1987 (excellent show,) we get brought to #25 from very early 1980 and an obscure Barry Manilow number.

Someone on the message board on that site mentioned that they flipped from the January, 1980 show to the Top 50 of 1987. The message was posted about three hours ago, which was around the time the 1987 show started. I could have sworn that they got all the way to the end of the 1/26/80 show (since I vaguely remember hearing "Rock With You"). Unless the 1980 show morphed into the 1987 show about halfway through the show and they just didn't post about it until later. Not sure, as I tuned in when they were at #14, with Tom Petty. They seem to be back on track with the 1987 show, as I see that "Don't Dream It's Over" by Crowded House is playing.

As I said yesterday evening, iHeart began this current round of mix-ups on May 12 with the show from 8/1/81 and it has happened on EVERY 1980's show since then through this afternoon. I feel confident it will continue with the show later tonight from 1/3/87 since the show from 2/16/80 skipped ahead to the middle one third of the show from 1/3/87. The pattern has been consistent: A show will start, then at around #24 (or so) iHeart skips to a similar number in the countdown that is scheduled next in the rotation. Then at around #14 (or so) iHeart returns to around #14 (or so) in the show that began 2.5 hours earlier. None of the `80s shows played since 8/1/81 on May 12, 2020 have played without this skipping to the next show occurring. That is, none have aired as a whole show without skipping.

New day, same pattern. The Top 50 of 1985 was just interrupted by March 20, 1982 with Rick Springfield at #24.

I'm thinking this is a computer glitch that needs to be fixed.

Aaaaaand the skipping is back. This morning iHeart started the show from 2/18/78, then during that show they skipped to the middle of the show from 2/9/74. After Casey did his end-of-the-second-hour closeout in the show from 2/9/74 iHeart skipped to #13 in the show from 2/18/78 and that show continued until the end.

The AT40 channel with the current week's show has been glitching as well. In my recording from last night, I heard several minutes of overlapping segments, and switching spots in the show. Amazing that I got the entire show in one shot, scrambled as it was. It's gotten worse the last few weeks.
Thankful for freebies, though I'm sure I'm not alone in wishing there was a little more human attention that could be given to these stations. Computers can be wonderful, but no matter how advanced and sophisticated they get, they can't entirely replace humans. As I've seen at work recently, with inventory maintained and ordered by a computer, there's a reason it's called artificial intelligence.

^ Yes it does, but I think for the pre-AT40 chart dates, he uses Billboard. Correct Laura. 7-4-70 and before is a Billboard chart. 7-11-70 to the end of 1989 is Cashbox. Specials are based on Billboard and there MIGHT be a few that are Billboard charts after July 1970, a while back we did a few dates that Casey had a special or sub. But not very many.

One thing about the MERC: Will it's online channel ever play shows from January-July of years? Also, how come the MERC hasn't started to use 1990's Cash Box charts if not the December 1991-January 1995 Billboard Hot 100 charts the then Shadoe Stevens AT40 never wanted to use but used alternate Billboard charts (first the Radio Monitor, then Top 40 Mainsteam) instead?
