And the beginning of the show was something that could have been differently. The only edited songs in the show that I was aware of were "Join Together" and "Rock & Roll Part 2", and that was edited so much it became "Rock & Roll Part 1 and a half". Might want to take a cue from AT40 and realize that the top 3 recap is not an all or nothing proposition. Don't need to play songs in full that are heard later in the show and have to edit other songs as a result. Rest of the show was virtually flawless except for a couple program errors as we call them. Hot 100 was started in 1958 not 1957. In fact, the week that you counted down was the anniversary of its inception. Rick Nelson had the #1 song and he had a song below the top 40 this week. So did another 50s star. He debuted on the Hot 100 with "My Ding-a-ling" and hit #1 with it making your statement that MJ's "Ben" was the only chart debut that would hit #1, false. Oops! But all in all, a good show and enjoyed finally hearing a Stories song from their Beatle sounding days. "Mammy Blue" was their only other song besides their #1 hit that I was familiar with.

I edited Rock & Roll Part 2 because of him being in jail and many stations don't play him at all as a result.
Join Together was in full on the show.
I think some of the recap was edited though.
Not sure what happened with Chuck Berry. Must've missed it. It was #99 after all.

I thought that maybe Rock and Roll Part 2 was edited because of his tabloid news. Everyone is different but I differentiate between what is playing in my ear and what that artist has done in real life. "Join Together" came in at 3:45 but AT40 typically played a version that went almost 5 minutes. Funny that you missed Chuck at #99 when you played teh Moody Blues who were at #100. But I will give you this. You mirrored the original AT40 show from 8/5/72. They passed on "My Ding-a-ling" and in fact, someone wrote 'DIRTY' on the cards each artist in that countdown had created by the AT40 staff. Played a different song on the National Album Countdown by Chuck. A couple weeks later, there was no getting around playing that dirty song!

Join Together is 4:20. I used the stoppers there soon had a long break and talked to the vocal. I didn't let the entire outdo play but it's all there.
That's probably why I overlooked Chuck. The version I have is longer and dirty anyways.
When did I mention 1957? The flashback was to 1962.
