From this week in 2012, it's a song that was at #2 on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Songs chart that week and would reach #1 a week later. Here's "She Wolf (Falling to Pieces)" by David Guetta featuring Sia.
From this week in 2013, it's the song that was #1 on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Songs chart. It also reached #111 on Billboard's Bubbling Under chart and #31 on Mediabase. Here's "All Night" by Icona Pop.

^ jlthorpe... A song from last year is already a classic? We need to have you re-think your definition of a classic (just kidding !!!). I always look forward to your posts each week. With radio stations having such strict playlists these days, it's easy to miss out on some songs which will become future classics.
I'll throw in a pick from 5 years ago. Fitz & The Tantrums cracked the Adult Alternative Songs' Top 10 on the 1/8/11 chart. EDIT: This song would peak at #2, held out of the top spot by a minor hit called "Rolling In The Deep" by someone called Adele . Here are Fitz & The Tantrums with "Moneygrabber":

80sat40fan, great choice for a song. I remember that song was used in some commercial in the last few years, but I can't remember which one. As for my choices, I basically consider this a vanity thread where I'm just posting my favorite songs (or whichever ones interest me, if I can't find one I consider a personal favorite). Since it's now 2016, I figured I'd choose a song from last year, since I excluded songs from that year when I created this thread. If I'm still posting in this thread in 2017, I'll try to add some 2016 songs then.

"Moneygrabber" was featured in a New Amsterdam Vodka commercial:
They also used Fitz & The Tantrums' "Don't Gotta Work It Out" in another commercial. I don't want you think I memorize every song used in every commercial... Wikipedia mentioned the use of the song in the commercial . Somebody at New Amsterdam Vodka has great taste in music!
