* Mulitple Pick Hits this week.. just because these songs have been stuck in my head since reviewing the charts this morning: Ramsey Lewis' tune is a cool instrumental while Smith is a forgotten classic. For my 90s picks, Lisa Stansfield goes almost late 70s disco while TLC nails early 90s R&B in a funky way:

10/20/84:John Waite - Missing YouRomeo Void - A Girl In Trouble Scandal Feat. Patty Smyth - The Warrior Survior - I Can´t Hold Back Tina Turner - Better Be Good To Me It´s time for a bonus-show, because 10/26 is Austria´s National holiday: 7/11/87 (guest-host: Charlie Van Dyke):Eddie Money - Endless Nights Fleetwood Mac - Seven Wonders Genesis - In Too Deep Herb Alpert - Diamonds Smokey Robinson - Just To See Her9 Places - 9 TreasuresFor eight years, " 9 Places - 9 Treasures" has belonged to Austria like the National holiday. Hidden places and scenic rarities are presented and selected. The TV audience can choose the most beautiful place in Austria every year. After this year´s preselection for the show (each ORF regional studio again presented three "treasures" to choose from), the nine regional winners will be determined who will compete on the National holiday for their respective federal state. The Krimml Waterfalls are Salzburg´s candidate this year. With the enormous amounts of water falling over a height of 380 meters, the Krimml Waterfalls are the highest waterfalls in Austria and among the largest in the world. The municipality of Krimml is located at 1,100 meters above sea level in the Hohe Tauern National Park. It has been known for 200 years that a visit to the Krimml Waterfalls has healing properties. At the beginning of the 19th century, the then country doctor, Medicus Wolfgang Oberlechner from Zell am See, recommended a visit to the Krimml Waterfalls as a therapy for various ailments. The Research Institute for Ecomedicine at the Paracelsus Medical Private University in Salzburg provided scientific proof of this ten years ago: Staying in the vicinity of the waterfalls causes an immunological improvement in asthma symptoms. The aerosols develop their positive effect here. When the water hits the rock, the drops burst into tiny pieces. This is how the waterfall aerosols are created. This spray stimulates the immune system and helps against allergies and asthma - a natural remedy. The invisible droplets are 200 times smaller than the droplets that come out of an asthma spray. As a result, the remedy from the waterfall can get much deeper into the respiratory tract and develop its positive effect there, so that the lung function and the immune system of allergy sufferers and asthmatics are sustainably improved. Discomfort is alleviated and the lungs recover. So, here are my " relax"-editions: 10/20/84:Lionel Richie - Penny LoverMadonna - Lucky Star Paul McCartney - No More Lonely Nights Stevie Wonder - I Just Called To Say I Love You The Cars - Drive7/11/87 (guest-host: Charlie Van Dyke):Atlantic Starr - Always Billy Idol - Sweet Sixteen Kenny G. - SongbirdKenny Loggins - Meet Me Half Way Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam - Head To Toe Time for an extra: FancyAlthough Fancy (rela name Manfred Alois Segieth) was always perceived as a star from Italy, he was born in Munich and made his first musical experiences with Frank Farian. The video for "Slice Me Nice" is set against an eschatological backdrop in the legendary Italian film city of Cinecitta, where Italo-westerns such as "For a Fistful of Dollars" and "Ben Hur" by William Wyler were filmed. An already existing apocalyptic scene was chosen for the video for "Slice me Nice". The - as always heavily made-up - Fancy frees a woman from the hands of dark fellows in the video, but there are no explanations for this in the lyrics.
Here´s Fancy with "Slice Me Nice" and "Chinese Eyes": from my musical category "daydreamer"My motto: "Not always the often heard hits."

He mixes elements from rock, ethnic and classical music. His breakthrough and most famous composition came in 1973 with the album Tubular Bells. The album was so successful that the BBC showed it that same year with its own live performance on TV. In Great Britain these little musical passions of Mike Oldfield were loved. He was not only extremely successful with his albums, but also a regular guest in the British singles charts. In German-speaking countries, he only succeeded in doing this with his homage to the ABBA group. "Arrival" was featured in the Austrian charts. For many, Mike Oldfield´s music was also a kind of music lesson. Again and again he published his own versions of instrumental hits. And if you´re already thinking of Christmas ... "In Dulci Jubilo" is a traditional British hymn that is played especially around Christmas time. To non-British people, the title might sound like an old Celtic or Irish folk song.

As an Austrian band, we had incredible national and international success and are very proud and grateful to have given so many millions of people joy with our music. But now the time to say goodbye has come, a time that we want to celebrate with our fans with one last great work - the double CD & fan box " Opus Magnum" was released in November 2020 - and many concerts until the end of 2021. After more than at the peak of our creative power, we will give our best 1,500 appearances again until the very last concert on 12/21/2021 at the Graz Opera." Next Monday, 11/8/2021, Opus will be guesting in Salzburg for the last time, so this week there is also a " live" edition: 11/8/80 (A):AC/DC - You Shook Me All Night Long --> liveBruce Springsteen - Hungry Heart --> liveQueen - Another One Bites The Dust --> liveSupertramp - Dreamer --> liveThe Rolling Stones - She´s So Cold --> live 11/15/86 (B):Billy Idol - To Be A Lover --> liveBon Jovi - You Give Love A Bad Name --> liveBoston - Amanda --> liveCorey Hart - I Am By Your Side --> liveTina Turner - Typical Male --> liveTime for an Austrian extra: Bilgeri
Together with Opus, Reinhold Bilgeri also begins to say goodbye to the musical stage of life:
Bilgeri on farewell tour in Götzis (Vorarlberg)
Bilgeri with Ewald Pfleger (Opus) and Rudi Nemeczek (Minisex)
But Reinhold Bilgeri continues in literary terms: About 15 years ago, Bilgeri wrote his debut novel "The Breath of Heaven". Since then, the musician and director has dedicated himself to various artistic projects. The Covid-19 pandemic initially led to postponements, cancellations and in many ways to a standstill. But Bilgeri has used the silence and is now presenting his second novel "Love in the quiet land". Reuters reporter Thomas Maas from Vienna and US lawyer Amy Alister have been married for five years. In lockdown, they retired to their weekend house 90 minutes from New York City and found that nothing is as it was before - including their relationship. What applies to society also applies to "Love in the Quiet Land": The state of emergency makes existing differences clearer. Silence has not only returned to public life in the metropolis, which otherwise pulsates around the clock, communication between the two partners has also frozen. Does the hitherto unsuccessful attempt to have children play a role, or is it the difference in backgrounds and characters ? He is a 45-year-old, quirky ex-globetrotter and Rimbaud admirer, she is ten years younger and an ambitious offspring of an upper-class family.
In the impressions from Manhattan that has become a ghost town, where long queues form in front of the elevators, which are limited in their capacities due to the corona, and the poverty promoted by the system becomes frighteningly visible, Bilgeri manage the strongest passages. Tom witnesses a suicide, smells an exciting story with a lot of "human touch", struggles up 15 floors on foot, ends up in the apartment of an old, Covid-19-infected couple who actually had their lives together given the expected triage want to take, and there meets Lucy, a young lodger, who asks him for assistance. And lawyer Amy is celebrating a finalized hospital and real estate project with clients in a small town 60 miles north of Manhattan. An attractive doctor brings the happily drunk woman back to New York City in her own car. Bilgeri is now leading the development at both locations in parallel and is not afraid of big emotions ... And about his current life, he says: "I live on Lake Constance (Vorarlberg), in Vienna and in between in America because my daughter Laura lives as an actress - depending on the work - in Los Angeles or in New York. She told me during the lockdown in New York showed online every day what was going on in America. So she walked with me through the empty streets of Manhattan and showed me the deserted Times Square. That was so spooky, I´ve known the city since the 1970s and I also lived in Los Angeles for a long time. It was painful for me what had happened in the last few years. I had to deal with it somehow. First I wanted to write a short story, as a big fan of F. Scott Fitzgerald, who not only has written terrific novels, but also great short stories, in prose that is so wonderfully jazzy and smooth and prancing." "Nothin´ But A Heartache" was released as a single in 1982 and is also considered a secret radio tip: from my musical category "daydreamer"My motto: "Not always the often heard hits."
