My Top 22 songs from the 5/1/82 countdown: Top 10: I Love Rock 'n' Roll, Ebony & Ivory, Freeze Frame, Don't Talk To Strangers, We Got The Beat, Do You Believe In Love, 867-5309/Jenny, '65 Love Affair #11-20: Did It In A Minute, Get Down On It, The Other Woman, Always On My Mind, Edge Of Seventeen, (Oh) Pretty Woman, Heat Of The Moment #21-30: Don't You Want Me, Hang Fire, Empty Garden (Hey Hey Johnny), Theme From Magnum PI, Man On Your Mind #31-40: Genius Of Love, Fantasy
* Styx and Aldo Nova are my Shooda Dun Betr Picks this week. The a cappella opening with the super quiet bass drum (ok, so it's not quite an a cappella opening 😁) on "Renegade" is fantastic as is Tommy Shaw's guitar solo. "Fantasy" just has such as positive vibe to it, and you have to love '80s keyboards! Both songs should have peaked way higher than they did:

Collins died last week at the age of 90. Italian-born Collins was one of three astronauts on the Apollo 11 mission. Unlike his colleagues Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, he did not enter the satellite on 7/20/1969. He stayed behind in a lunar orbit as a pilot in the "Columbia" command module. Armstrong and Aldrin landed on the moon with the "Eagle" module. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, Collins said in 2019 that he had always been asked if he hadn´t felt like the "loneliest person" in history at that moment. But that was not the case: "I was very happy to be where I was and to see how this complicated mission unfolded." With his death, of the Apollo 11 astronauts, only Aldrin is still alive. Neil Armstrong, the first man on the moon, died in 2012. Four employees of an auction company are currently busy cataloging the exhibits. There are currently around 6,000 exhibits online, with a further 1,000 to follow. This is also a special assignment for the auction house. It doesn´t happen every month, not every year that the entire equipment of a stadium is auctioned, said Jürgen Blematl from the auction house Aurena: "I would say that this is probably a decade-long project." It´s just a very special auction. Some of the exhibits are real delicacies for collectors and former fans. For example, a jersey with the signature of all players at the time is offered. For example, the grandstand seats, the camera tower, the inventory of the SVM Cafe, fitness equipment and fan articles will also be auctioned. The auction house employees determine the price of the exhibits. Ten percent of the expected price is set as the starting price. Every cent that comes in goes to the masses, because the creditors have to be satisfied, so Blematl. The highest bidder must collect the items. The first auction starts on May 19 (details at www.aurena.at/). And here are my " sports"-editions for this week: 5/7/88 (A):Aerosmith - Angel Billy Ocean - Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car Natalie Cole - Pink Cadillac The Jets - Rocket 2 U Tiffany - I Saw Him Standing There 7/17/82 (B):Asia - Heat Of The Moment Juice Newton - Love´s Been A Little Bit Hard On Me REO Speedwagon - Keep The Fire Burnin´ Survivor - Eye Of The Tiger The Go-Go´s - Vacation Time for an extra: BlackBehind the project " Black" is the Briton Colin Vearncombe, who originally started as a trio, but then formed as a "one-man band". In 1985 Colin went through an exhausting divorce, which he processed in the ironic lyrics of the hit "Wonderful Life". The song was first released in 1986 on an independent label, and then a year later on the A&M label. In an interview, Vearncombe said, "It´s an irony of my life: I wrote my best songs because of my divorce. So my ex-wife is responsible for making me a pop star." Colin´s life ended tragically: In January 2016 Vearncombe was involved in a traffic accident in Cork, Ireland, as a result of which he died. Here are Black´s two biggest hits - "Wonderful Life" and "Everything´s Coming Up Roses": from my musical category "daydreamer"My motto: "Not always the often heard hits."

Time for an extra: Nick KamenNick Kamen achieved fame not through his singing, but through his modeling career. Born in England, he had his breakthrough in 1984 when he posed on the cover of The Face magazine wearing a ski hat and sunglasses. It was followed by the commercial that made Kamen big. The model shot a clip for a well-known 501 pair of jeans in which he was seen in a laundromat and stripped down to his boxer shorts to wash his pants. Around him: Admiring women. Nick Kamen, whose real name was Ivor Neville Kamen, caused a sensation - even among the big stars. So singer Madonna also became aware of him through the commercial. In an interview with the BBC in 1986, she said how much "charisma" and what a "beautiful voice" the singer had. The two even recorded a song together: "Each Time You Break My Heart": Madonna on Instagram: "It breaks my heart to know that you have passed away. You have always been such a warm, sweet person and you have suffered so much. I hope you are happier wherever you are now, Nick Kamen." "It was beautiful and incredibly gentle" - touching words with which Lucinda Cary describes the last moments of her partner Nick Kamen. The 46-year-old spoke openly to the British Daily Mail for the first time about the long ordeal of the deceased model and pop icon. Nick was diagnosed with incurable cancer three years ago, says Cary, who was with the pop star for 14 years and accompanied him through his toughest times. "Nick was an incredible person, spending time with him during his illness was very inspiring. There has been so much joy and so much misery at the same time in the last three years, and he has lived through it with a lot of pride and dignity !" Even though he knew he was going to die, he lived his life with pride and courage. He had accepted his fate, says Cary. In his final moments, Kamen held her hand.
Here is Nick Kamens´ biggest hit in Austria - "I Promised Myself" from 1990: Finally, here´s my personal favorite (co-written with Stevie Wonder) - "Loving You Is Sweeter Than Ever": from my musical category "daydreamer"My motto: "Not always the often heard hits."
