Bread was part of the ABC's of the early 70's--America, Bread and Carpenters I’d say the “DEF's” of perhaps the mid 70's would be the Doobies, Eagles and Fleetwood Mac :-)

This week's presentation is a countdown of the 60 biggest disappearing acts as voted by Sirius/XM listeners-I'm willing to bet that this will be a lengthy program.

The show ended at 5:07 pm. Next week is 1968. Still no 1965! Maybe the week after 1968? With Saturday being September 30th, I am not sure how Dave will roll with the chart date. Likely 10-5-68 or 10-12-68, but at either rate, #1 was "Hey Jude."

The 60s Gold Satellite Survey airing on the birds is different than the one that is available On-Demand. The On-Demand version has no Dave Hoeffel voice tracks while the version being aired on SXM does.

Surprised that "Dominique" by The Singing Nun didn't show up-That was the second foreign language song from 1963 to top the Billboard Hot 100.

(And in case some of you were unaware, the Turtles recently lost again in court against SiriusXM, presumably while appealing their earlier loss. Being that they are now 0 and 2 against SiriusXM, can't this nonsense end once and for all, so we paying customers of SiriusXM can finally hear one of the greatest pop bands of the decade on 60's Gold?)

Yeah, I also thought the Singing Nun would appear in the countdown, as well as "Alley Oop" and "Harper Valley PTA". At least one of my favorite one-hit wonders "Classical Gas" made the top five. I had a feeling the #1 song would be "Wipeout", being that it's an iconic surf-rock instrumental that has stood the test of time well, not to mention that it had two significant chart runs in the '60's.

I too wish that Sirius/XM would lift their ban on The Turtles-Their music deserves to be heard on "60's Gold".

A very long countdown--went to 4:50 pm EST. Next week is 1964, and will be much shorter, with lots of British songs. I am thinking the chart date will be 10-17-64, when "Do Wah Diddy Diddy" was #1.
Even though 1965 hasn't been played in several months, the Turtles were still in the Top 40 with "It Ain't Me Babe." The song spent its last week in the Top 40 on 10-9-65.

Once the aformentioned "It Ain't Me Babe" falls off the countdown,we'll definitely hear 1965.

"Indian Reservation" by Don Fardon was one of the featured songs on the countdown from 10/5/68-I like it just as much as the remake by Paul Revere & The Raiders which went to # 1 in the summer of 1971.
