I'm thinking the date will be 4/16/66.

Couldn't be 4-16-66 as the Turtles' "You Baby" was still at #39. Luckily, it dropped to 41 the following week, so Dave went with 4-23-66. Show was very fast and ended at 4:15 EST. I cut the show off just as "Soul and Inspiration" ended.
Did Dave give next week's episode? Earlier this year, there was a special after 1966, and then 1967. However, we know it won't be until late July because the Turtles have "Happy Together" and "She'd Rather Be With Me" in the Top 40 until late July 1967.

Hey everyone. Lou Simon has just made a request, and I know it's a long shot.
Apparently, another devoted Survey listener would like to hear the top 100 instrumental songs of the Transistor Era, 1955-1974. This was a special that Lou did back when he still hosted. It may have been the Fourth of July weekend of 2015.
Would anyone out there happen to have the full playlist? Again, it would be greatly appreciated.

I listened to The 60's Satellite Survey On Demand, and I noticed that Dave is now giving us next week's episode. 1961 will be featured this Saturday, with repeats on Sunday and Wednesday. I knew he would be skipping over 1967 since Turtle songs are not played.

I knew he would be skipping over 1967 since Turtle songs are not played. This is pretty sad to never feature any countdown that features a Turtles song. 1967 really suffers based on this mentality.

Hey Joe, just be glad that the Shirelles are now allowed. A few years ago the aforementioned act was not played. It was very difficult when Lou Simon did the show to avoid the early 60's countdowns when the Shirelles were very prominent on the charts.

Thanks, skyseth. Lou seems to think that there was a special countdown of the top instrumentals of the "Transistor Era," 1955-1974. I found a top 100 overall of the TE and a top 100 instrumentals, but no combination of the two. So we'll see what happens in the near future.

It was repeated in 01/2017. I copied down the rankings (such as #100 is Horst Jankowski-Walk in the Black Forest and #1 is Percy Faith-Theme from a Summer Place) but I don't have all 100, maybe 90 of them. Would that be helpful?

1961 was featured yesterday, 4-24-21 with the chart date of 4-24-61. The show was relatively fast, and ended at 4:09 EST, just over 2 hours. Next week: hits of early May 1962. I was expecting 1964 as that has been the longest without play.

The 4 last weekly chart shows were a repeat of the same chart date. I still wonder why. I know, i repeat this for months now, but there are so many other dates still never aired...

Next week's show is 1963, which surprised me since 1964 is the longest show without play. Likely to be 5-11-63. I have never known the Countdown to present 3 consecutive years--61, 62, and next 63. Since 1964 is overdue, that would be 4 consecutive years.
