Sad news for fans of the 60's Satellite Survey who want to hear 1969--the next week possible due to the "Turtles ban," will be the week ending 3-29-69. "You Showed Me How" spends its final week on the Top 40 and Hot 100 also at #32 week ending 3-22-69.

We won't hear that year again until mid-July. For that matter, we'll have to wait till late April for another show from 1966.

At least the Shirelles are now allowed. If Dave had to do countdowns from the early 60's that would require some tweaking. Joe--many thanks for your 1967 countdowns that do allow the Turtles!

I really enjoyed the 02/1962 show this week. I heard quite a few songs that I hadn't heard in quite a while (3 or 4 years ago, if ever), especially in the songs between 40 and 20. I'm so glad the Shirelles are no longer preventing countdowns like this one from being played.

I wasn't very impressed with the extras. The only one I liked at all was the Montanas record. That peaked at #58 at the end of March.

I played Thank You Very Much by Scaffold on a countdown show and Mike McCartney , Paul's brother, was a member of the group. In addition, the song reached #1 on the British charts during the Christmas season 1967.
By the way, it's interesting to note that the Mills Brothers dated back to the 1920's and their song, Cab Driver, would be the last Top 40 hits they would have (nearly 40 years after they started).

I agree that this week's 1968 countdown is one of the best satellite surveys I have heard in the 5+ years I have been listening to them. I heard so many fantastic songs, both in the main countdown and among the extras. I respectfully disagree with doofus67 in that I loved three out of the four staff picks. Like doofus67 I loved the forgotten pop gem "You've Got To Be Loved" (I have it on my Montanas greatest hits CD), but I also loved the pulsating "A Question Of Temperature" (I have it on my Nuggets box set), and the gorgeous, majestic "Soul Coaxing". (I have it on a CD of instrumentals.)
