Debuting at #100 on the Hot 100 this week in 1999, and only peaking at #97 the following month, is “Simon Says” by Pharoahe Monch, containing a sample from the 1992 film “Godzilla vs. Mothra”. WARNING: Lyrics NSFW! So,I'm guessing NOT a remake of the 1968 bubblegum classic by the 1910 Fruit Gum Company... Nope!

In its third week on the Hot 100 (out of eight weeks total) this week in 1998 is the French dance trio Stardust. Their song "Music Sounds Better with You" was at #71 and would peak at #62, and is the only release by the trio, which included Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter.

Best known as a Top 10 hit for Aretha Franklin in 1967, Mary J. Blige's version of "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" (from the TV series "New York Undercover") was at #100 on this week's Hot 100 chart from 1995, peaking the previous week at #95.

Here's a song that 80sat40fan had wanted to post in this thread way back in 2014 but couldn't find a video for it. I had hoped to rectify that by posting it earlier this year but I couldn't find a video at the time, either. Apparently there must have been a copyright issue which has since been resolved, because videos with the song are available on YouTube now (but who knows for how long). So here it is, at #73 on the Hot 100 this week in 1990 and peaking at #48 before the end of the year - "New York Minute" by Don Henley.

For Thanksgiving, a song that was originally performed on "Saturday Night Live" in 1992, and released on the performer's comedy album "They're All Gonna Laugh at You!" in 1993. Over the years, it would reach #67 on the Hot 100 Airplay chart (1996) and #107 on the Bubbling Under chart (1998). Here's Adam Sandler with "The Thanksgiving Song" (both the album and "SNL" versions).

The live version of this song hit #14 on the Hot 100 in 1999. This week in 1995, Sarah McLachlan's original studio version of "I Will Remember You" from the film "The Brothers McMullen" was at #71 and would eventually peak at #65.
