Here's an interesting song from 1995 that I'm sure this board is familiar with. It was at #70 this week on the Hot 100, and despite the chart differences between Billboard and Radio and Records at this time, it managed to peak at the same position on both the Hot 100 and the Radio and Records CHR chart (#46). And even though I'm excluding songs that hit the Top 40 in R&R right now, it ended up making Casey's Top 40, appearing at #97 on their Top 100 of 1995. That song is, of course, "Close to You" by Fun Factory.

For the third time this year, this thread pays tribute to recently deceased rappers from the 90s. First there was Prince Markie Dee, then DMX, and now Shock G from Digital Underground, who passed away on Thursday. In 1991, Digital Underground entered Billboard's Hot 100 Airplay chart in February and peaked at #61 in March with a song from the film "Nothing But Trouble". Here's "Same Song".

Today's song choice is actually a two-fer from 1994, as they were released as a double-sided single which contained new versions of previous hit songs for the soundtrack of the film "Reality Bites". The A-side was originally a #1 hit in 1979 but was remixed for this release; this version was at #97 on the Hot 100 this week in 1994, having already peaked at #91. The B-side originally peaked at #49 in 1981, and was also remixed for this new version with additional overdubs. Here are The Knack with "My Sharona" and Squeeze with "Tempted '94".
