This Week's Lost 90s Classic is from an American R&B group named Classic Example. This song was their only chart hit, and it was peaking at #68 on the 12/5/92 Hot 100. The song appeared on the soundtrack to the movie "South Central". Their only album was co-produced by Maurice Starr who was famous for his work with New Edition and New Kids On The Block. Here is Classic Example with, "It's Alright":

This hit #30 on the R&R pop chart. I remember my local station playing it for a while. Michael1973 ... thanks for bringing this to my attention. When I saw that the song made Billboard's Rhythmic Top 40 but not Mainstream, I figured it didn't chart on R&R... oops! Three things: 1. Here is a replacement Lost 90s Classic from this week's Adult Contemporary chart in 1992 from Melissa Etheridge. It was at its peak position of #24. Here is "Dance Without Sleeping": 2. Michael... for finding my error, if you want to feature a Lost 90s Classic, go for it. My next three weeks of picks will be from '95 and '97 followed by my annual Christmas pick. Pop, R&B, rock, rap, country, alternative... any Lost 90s Classic from this week is good with me. 2. The first year I picked hits for this thread, I didn't check to see if a song made Radio & Records Top 40. For the last five years or so, I have done my best to check R&R (bit not always, as evidenced by this week's snafu ). Because of this, there aren't many songs left to feature in some years! When people ask how many Top 40 songs and artist has had, they don't quote Radio & Records charts... so I'm wondering if I go back to featuring some songs which did hit R&R's Top 40 but not Billboard. It could make for a fascinating look back at the charts... but it may also mean people getting upset that a featured song was a Top 40 hit played by Casey, even if it wasn't on Billboard's Top 40. I'm open to everyone's feedback here. Thanks in advance.

The way I see it, any song can be considered "lost" if it's no longer widely recognized.
I don't really have too many suggestions for this thread. There probably aren't a whole lot of low-peaking Hot 100 hits that I'm very familiar with.

This Week's Lost 90s Classic is from Better Than Ezra. This was the follow-up to their first hit, "Good", and it was holding at #85 on the 12/9/95 Hot 100. It would go on to peak at #71. Here is Better Than Ezra with "Roselia":

This Week's Lost 90s Classic is from Reba McEntire. This song was moving up 18 notches to #68 on the 12/20/97 Hot 100. It would eventually peak at #50 on the pop chart and #23 on the country chart. The music video for this song was updated recently with images from the pandemic. Here is Reba with "What If":

This Week's Lost 90s Classics (aka This Year's Lost 90s Christmas Classics) are from Harry Connick Jr. These were four new tunes recorded for his 1993 "When My Heart Finds Christmas" album which was moving up 2 notches to #14 on the 12/25/93 Billboard Top 200 Album chart. Here is Harry Connick Jr. with "When My Heart Finds Christmas", "(It Must've Been Ol') Santa Claus", "The Blessed Dawn Of Christmas Day", and "I Pray On Christmas":
Merry Christmas, everyone! If you have lost any loved ones this year, I will keep them in my prayers.

Hi everyone. I'm hitting the pause button with my contributions to this thread. I enjoyed featuring many forgotten (and some not so forgotten) tunes from the '90s over the last 6+ years... about the same amount of time as Shadoe Stevens led AT40. To be honest, given my work schedule and some other items, it's becoming more difficult for me to find the time to select some quality tunes for this thread. If someone else would like to take over, that's great with me. My pick for this week is the very first song featured in this thread... "Never Stop" by The Brand New Heavies. I'll never stop listening to Casey Kasem's American Top 40 (well, so long as God permits me to listen ), and I'll never stop enjoying the tunes, the stories, the chart movement and Casey's voice.

If it's alright with you, I'd like to continue contributing to this thread on (hopefully) a weekly basis. There are probably a bunch of 90s songs in the hip-hop and dance genres (as well as some pop and rock songs) that I can include. And don't worry, I'll make sure not to choose songs you've already picked.

You are pulling double duty with two posts a week with your Lost 2000s Classic thread... you would be a natural to feature your 90s faves here if you're up for it. Thanks again!

You're welcome. I don't want to reinvent the wheel and choose songs that you and others have chosen, so I'm going through the thread and seeing what's been posted that would have been my choices as well. I'm actually about a third done so far. Hopefully I can post that list this week and start with my own choices once 2021 begins.

So I went through the thread to see what songs were already posted and came up with the complete list. All songs were originally posted by 80sat40fan unless otherwise noted in brackets; two songs were also reposted by 80sat40fan that were previously posted by others - The Lemonheads' "Into Your Arms" and Lisa Stansfield's "All Woman". Songs that are marked with an asterisk are ones I would have personally chosen (or did choose, as the case may be) for this thread; other songs may need an asterisk, too, but I didn't know whether I was familiar with them or not. Beginning this coming weekend, I'll start taking over for 80sat40fan. I'm debating whether I will post twice a week like I do for the 2000s thread, and whether I will post in this thread on Saturdays or Sundays.

Before I start, let me thank 80sat40fan for allowing me to continue his thread. I'll be posting here on Sundays right after posting in the Lost 2000s Classic thread, and will probably post twice a week like I do in that other thread. I'm also going to avoid posting any songs that were posted in this thread previously, so there will be no repeats.
Back in 2017, 80sat40fan posted songs from 1990-1999 in chronological order over a period of ten weeks, and I'm going to try to do that to kick things off. So today's song will be from the first Billboard Mainstream Rock chart of 1990. It's a song by a hard rock band best known for their 1989 Top 5 hit "Once Bitten, Twice Shy" (as well as for an unfortunate nightclub fire in 2003). This song debuted on the Mainstream Rock chart this week at #47, and would go on to peak at #7 in February. It also peaked at #83 on the Hot 100 in March. Here's "House of Broken Love" by Great White.

For 1991, I'm including a song that was spending its second week at its peak position of #43 on the Hot 100. The song was also a #1 hit on the Adult Contemporary chart. Here's "You Gotta Love Someone" by Elton John.

For 1992, I'm including the only Hot 100 hit for a rap duo who was probably more famous for their look and their films than their music. This song was at its peak position of #51 on the Hot 100 this week, and was also a #1 hit on Billboard's rap chart the previous December. Here's "Ain't Gonna Hurt Nobody" by Kid 'n Play.
