And d**n, did it bust our asses...
It's Labor Day weekend, and so of course there will be a lot of special AT40 countdowns on great radio stations all across the US.
There's one other special countdown debuting this weekend ... but it won't be airing on any radio stations.
If you contributed a letter to Letters To Casey - The Longest Distance Dedication, please shoot me a PM, and I'll send you the download link.
Shipping our labor of love on Labor Day... whoda thunkitt?
Have a great weekend, everybody!

Well first of all, I found out by listening that you baylink are Jay Ashworth, one of the announcers in this special. All of you did a fine job. And your sister Pamela, who I see just quoted one of my posts, had a nice LDD in the top 10. Nice to hear from Scott Lakefield, Shannon Lynn and Pete Battistini in that top 10 as well. All who contributed to this special are to be commended. BTW, there were 5 LDDs for "Thank You For Being a Friend". One of the ones probably not read was by Adam who is on this board and was read on the last AT20 and AT10.

Quite so; glad you like it.
There were 8 or 9 for the number one song, but rank has to have *some* privileges. :-)

I don't remember who actually was selected to get the Andrew Gold song... (really. ever since 6 eps of Golden Girls a day, when my mother was still alive, I really have an aversion to that song!) but lucky me, I didn't have to pick who got it. :-) Also - thanks :-) I had nothing before Kerri and Mike played it in their tribute.

A dedication from Keith in Chicago. Dear Casey, .... After the pain you've felt and the chaos, you've witnessed among those who love you, I hope you find your peace. So to one of the legends of radio, Casey, I dedicate to you "FM" by Steely Dan, and hope that you soon feel, as the song's full title says "No static at all" This one *still* makes me cry. Which reminds me - did you guys see/post the link to the guy in high school who interviewed Casey in the 80s?

To Jay and Pamela Jay, as well as Jeff Michaels (Michael Fox) and Jeff Daniels, and anyone else involved...I had one of the letters included in the "special package" that you guys assembled, dedicating "American Pie" by Don McLean because I DID feel that Casey's passing was once again, a moment where it felt like it was "the day the music died." You don't know how touched I felt to included in that company of fans and friends who loved Casey, even among the likes of you, Rob Dean, Rob Durkee, Pete Battistini, and Shannon Lynn. (And extra kudos for somehow having my Hall of Fame petition mentioned at the end of hour two, and my letter beginning hour three.) I know the effort was well received to my knowledge in our little "gang," and I hope it won't be the last time such an event "MIGHT" occur-improbable by most odds, but not impossible, though. Let's say this would-be "Casey clone" loved this special, and another one ain't a bad idea, either. THANK YOU!

Thank you. A true labor of love for a man that helped us learn something about pop music.
Great job--script and presentation; my hats off (of my bald head) to all of you who contributed to the special in some way.

If your a diehard Casey fan you have to hear this show these men put together. It's perfect for AT40 50 anniversary celebration. LDD for Casey Kasem. I believe this was the show KCOW played recently.
