Listening to a 9/3/83 show in which they played Peter Gabriel's "Solsbury Hill" as an extra -- only problem is, the version that charted in '83 was from a "live" LP, and Premiere played the studio version, which charted in 1977. Oops. They would occasionally do that. In the fall of 1980, Supertramp charted with a live version of their song "Dreamer", but on a September show in 2008, they played the studio version as an Optional Extra. That's the one that stands out in my mind, but there were several times that they used for an Optional Extra a song other than the one that charted at the time.

^Another recent example: Steve Winwood's "Valerie" was played as an OE on the 11/27/82 show. Only it wasn't the original version of "Valerie" from his 1982 studio album Talking Back to the Night. Instead it was the remixed version from his Chronicles greatest hits album, which was the version that hit the top 10 in late '87/early '88.
Funny thing--two weeks after hearing the song as an OE, we heard it in the countdown on the 12/12/87 show--wonder how many times that's happened in either of the AT40 - the 70s or 80s series?

Remember at first this channel was going to broadcast the most recently aired programs? Larry Morgan's voiceover would say something to that effect. Wish it actually did that.

It was a good backup in case I missed part of a show on the weekend. Once they stopped doing the most recent programs they lost all value to me.

I Heart Radio needs to add more of the recent countdowns-Way too much repetition.

iHeart has a message board? Where? I don't know if you'd call it a message board but on their page where you listen at the bottom they have a comments section. I have read about the one that send messages to them about adding shows. In conclusion it's about time I might actually check them out again.

Now the 2014 version (Larry Morgan version) of 8/31/85. Do they know that the show (the Ed McMann version) was already on the channel?
