Here's one that comes close: in 1973 ELO narrowly missed the top 40 with their reworking of "Roll Over Beethoven". Ten years later they hit with "Rock 'n' Roll Is King", which includes the line "She rolled over Beethoven and she gave Tchaikovsky back".

Next week we get the 9/1/73 show from Premiere (SXM played the previous week's show last weekend), which has Curtis Mayfield's "Future Shock", which has the lyric "See how they're dancing to the Superfly".

I often confused (Here I Am) The One That You Love with Air Supply's next single, Here I Am. I only recently learned that it was for this very reason that "Here I Am" was given a subtitle.

In "We're All Alone", Rita Coolidge mentions: And "you" can be with me ("You" being her later #25 hit) (as well as few other places like in "All Time High") I'm sure there are plenty other one-word more generic song titles elsewhere; they might come around to me in time. George Harrison also had a hit called "You." George Harrison's All Those Years Ago mentions his earlier Beatles hit All You Need Is Love

Another example I noticed earlier today: Towards the end of Natalie Cole's 1978 hit "Our Love" she sings "I've Got Love On My Mind" a couple of times. That, of course, is the title of a big hit of hers from a year earlier.

Someone mentioned Sting "Love Is The Seventh Wave", but he also did this at the end of "We'll Be Together"; he starts singing the first lines of "If You Love Somebody Set Them Free.

In the lyrics to Michael Jackson's "Wanna Be Starting Something" he mentions "Billie Jean". (I never noticed that until this morning when I was listening the "American Music Chronological 1983" and Slammin' Sam quoted that passage in the song.)

This one might be open for debate but in Seven Wonders chorus, it sounds like Stevie sings 'Sara'

This one might be open for debate but in Seven Wonders chorus, it sounds like Stevie sings 'Sara' I think she's singing "Never" (as one of the lines in the chorus is "I'll NEVER live to match the beauty again".

Maroon 5's recent hit Girls Like You contains the word "Daylight" in the lyrics.
