Currently catching the current show of Bob Kingsley's Country Top 40, which also features some new imaging. But some 2017 and 2018 imaging is still used.
In the car, it's CT40 (Casey's Top 40) from 1/16/1993. Mark Elliott is sitting in for Casey. Lots of big upward and downward moves in this show, highlighted by the 20-notch jump by "A Whole New World". And Jon Secada goes 20 the other way with "Do You Believe In Us". Not unusual for a early to mid-January show to feature lots of turnover and big moves like this.

Another 90's throwback, this time from Casey's second AT40 stint. February 13, 1999, hard to believe this was 22 years ago already!
On this show, Casey used his Shaggy voice (from Scooby Doo) to introduce the artist Shaggy, who appeared in the countdown with "Luv Me, Luv Me".
Also, with 2pac falling off, on this chart, only Aaliyah is dead. The other 39 artists are still alive, though two artists featured in LDD's (Bobby Hatfield and James Ingram) are both dead.
And I'm curious whatever happened to that second volume of John Lennon covers that Everclear was supposed to have contributed to. David Bowie's cover of "Mother" was mentioned by Casey; that was only finally released this year!

Upon hearing the news that Golden Earring had retired due to George Kooymans being diagnosed with ALS... AT40 from February 5, 1983.
A bit of a semi-jinx here: Casey said that Linda Ronstadt was one more top 40 remake away from tying Donny Osmond's record for most top 40 hit remakes. She didn't get another until 1989 - "Don't Know Much" was a remake that had several previously recorded versions hit various charts. Ironically, this hit in the midst of a comeback for Donny himself - but, as far as I'm aware, neither of his 1989 hits were remakes.

This week's Country Top 40 with Fitz. Love the vault feature, and many others along with the hits. Good stuff.
Just finished up CT40 from 2/13/1993 in the car, and just started AT40 from 2/14/1981.

Taking it back 28 years to Casey's Top 40 from February 20, 1993. This was right around the time I was starting to get into current music and following the charts, so many songs on here have nostalgic value for me. Interesting note: Two remakes of Chaka Khan songs (I'm Every Woman, remade by Whitney Houston and Sweet Thing, remade by Mary J. Blige) were in the chart at the same time as one of her own songs, her duet with Peter Cetera "Feels Like Heaven". And while both Chaka and Mary are nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on this chart, several acts are already in: Madonna, Peter Cetera (as part of Chicago), R.E.M., Whitney Houston, Def Leppard, Peter Gabriel, Bon Jovi and Prince. Additionally, Linda Ronstadt who had a R&D song with "Somewhere Out There" is also in. Annie Lennox has previously been nominated as part of the Eurythmics but has yet to get in. To tie in with Dan Baird's hit "I Love You Period", the story was about how a 4-year-old kid learned punctuation from that song! I guess Schoolhouse Rock is calling him any minute. And leading into #1 being "A Whole New World", from Aladdin, Casey did a rundown of previous animated movie hits to hit the top 10, and said this was the first to hit #1.

Taking it back 28 years to Casey's Top 40 from February 20, 1993. Just heard that show last week; great post. 🙂 Got the following show going on right now (2/27/1993), and the aforementioned "I Love You Period" fell out on this show, but what a story Casey told on its last week in the 40. I'm in the middle of hour 2, and Madonna's #1 hit "Deeper And Deeper" is really taking a nosedive, almost late 1974-like. #1 in the first week of February, and almost off the 40 before the end of the month. Oh, "Feels Like Heaven" also dropped out on this show; great song. It was sometime in early 1993 that I lost touch with CT40, due to a lot of things I was dealing with at the time, but found Casey's Countdown in the spring and listened to that for several weeks. I found CT40 again in 1995 and hardly missed a show after that. It's awesome to hear these 1993 shows.
