I have a few questions about Open House Party:
1. When did Open House Party debut? 2. Has the show always broadcast on Saturday and Sunday nights or was it originally broadcast on Saturday nights only? 3. If it was originally broadcast on Saturday nights only, when did they add a Sunday edition? 4. If John Garabedian or Kannon are unable to host OHP on a Saturday or Sunday respectively do they use guest hosts or do they air repeats?

One thing I do know is the show helped the recharting of UB40's "Red Red Wine" & the Four Seasons' "December 1963 (Oh What A Night)." Funny thing is regarding the latter I've heard the show play the club remix version as far back as 1987. So why did it chart in 1994?

I remember when VOCM-AM in Newfoundland aired "Open House Party" back in the late-80s/early-90s. I remember hearing a remixed version of Phil Collins' "Hang In Long Enough" and it was pretty upbeat. I also heard Bardeaux's "I Love The Bass" (the same group who hit AT40 with their ballad "When We Kiss") before Christmas 1989, and I personally think "I Love The Bass" was Bardeaux's best song ever, despite that my taste for new music was fading off into the sunset as we headed into the 1990s. VOCM-AM nowadays airs nothing but news talk and some older country music sets - it's not the same anymore.
Though I do admit, VOCM-FM got better when they flipped the switch from 1980-early 2000's music to classic rock in 2002.

Tonight, January 28th, 2017 marks John Garabedian's final show as host. Kannon takes over on Saturday nights following this show. I have listened in since the summer of 1988 when WMJQ used to broadcast it. Since then, always found a station to listen on (especially now with the Tune In App). But this show will not be the same without Garabedian hosting. I will miss it. Probably won't listen to the show again after this one but it was truly a show that lasted a long time, premiering all the newest hit music and interviewing all the biggest artists. Great job through all the years OHP!!

OHP had lost tons of affiliates over the years in favor of Saturday Night Online with Romeo. Still, the end of an era for sure.

OHP had lost tons of affiliates over the years in favor of Saturday Night Online with Romeo. Still, the end of an era for sure. Now SNO is called "Most Requested Live With Romeo". It still airs Saturdays from 7 PM-midnight mostly on iHeart stations; the iHeart imprimatur was probably instrumental in its rise.

John Garabedian quit doing the Open House Party in January 2017. However that is not the last time he will be heard. He created a new app "Jam Channel". It's a free app that plays non-stop hit music 24/7. It's actually just like the Open House Party. John takes requests once or twice an hour and even still has interviews with the hot artists and still talks to "Research Rich". I don't know how this is done. It's not live but it's unknown what day of the week or time this show is recorded or if it plays in rotation or just uses random segments for the week. But I love it and listen to it a lot. It's basically Open House Party 24 hours a day.

With all these apps being created (Rick Dees has one, and AT40 has one that looks like someday it will feature all the countdowns of the 80s too), now this one, you could literally create your own radio station if you wanted.lol

Whereas I remained an AT40 fan through all the host changes... I have to admit OHP just...isn't as good without John
