Well, I did do a Google News search, and discovered that one radio station did acquire the rights to the 70s rebroadcasts. So that disproves my theory I posted above. When affiliates drop the show, new affiliates will replace it.
And I agree with the possibility that demand for 70s music will dwindle someday. I don't know if any radio station even plays Elvis Presley or the "golden oldies" nowadays. Elvis is not played in radio stations where I am nowadays (except for "Blue Christmas").

Well, it seems to be obvious that Casey is receiving royalties when the radio stations are airing these retro rebroadcasts. Since Casey is terminally ill and has only months to live, it makes a lot of sense that a lot of affiliates are electing not to renew the contract to air these retro shows when they expire, realizing the end of his life is nearing and eventually the affiliates will be paying money for nothing (not a Dire Straits reference), and I hate to break it to the fans of the show, but this may be the beginning of the end of retro AT40. The only AT40 that will be left will be the one hosted by Ryan, and that will remain on the air as long as the younger generation enjoy celebrity gossip and all the pop, hip-hop, and (c)rap music that most of the older generation tend to despise. And I despise the current AT40 greatly. Except for despising AT40 with Seacrest and Casey getting royalties (the former being certain and the latter likely), I don't get this. Casey passing would not mean the affiliates would be "paying money for nothing." We see Beatles shows, Sinatra shows and an entire channel of Bing Crosby shows at Christmas on Sirius/XM, notwithstanding the death of two Beatles and the others. Royalties pass to their heirs or assignees. I fail to see why his passing would trigger a wind-down of the rebroadcasts. (The aging of us folks certainly will have that effect, and probably already is negatively impacting 70s carriage.) While not denying the tragedy the loss of AT40 Classics would be, I would urge anybody interested to pay attention to legitimate radio-industry news sites (e.g. AllAccess.com, RadioInfo.com, RadioInk.com), the few general radio discussions sites still around (radiodiscussions.com, nyrmb.com), and of course, PremiereNetworks.com who(m) would all be reporting any decision on Premiere's part in regard to the shows' future. dL

This is just a friendly reminder that daylight savings time begins this weekend for much of the US.

Hee hee, methinks you've got the wrong thread. I'll add them to the 70s list. This is just a friendly reminder that daylight savings time begins this weekend for much of the US. This will affect those who listen to Aruba's Hits 100, and Arizona's KQSR and KMXZ.

What about Sunny Radio and Sunny 101.5? Will those be affected as well?

What about Sunny Radio and Sunny 101.5? Will those be affected as well? Shouldn't be. Even with automation, special shows such as AT40 will re-sync themselves to their proper time. The only reason those other three stations see "timeslot shifts" is because everywhere else time-shifts due to DST - while they do not.

I just discovered that Star 107.9, an online radio station that only plays songs from the 80s, have started airing the show. However, they're not airing this weekend's 1986 show; they're playing the 3/16/1985 show (from last year) instead. More details about this as soon as I get them.
