This past June, "Levitating" jumped 13 spots in its 33rd week. It was the biggest mover that week and the biggest leap it took during its entire chart run.

Was "Conga" by Miami Sound Machine in 1985-1986 one of these?

The prior panel Sad Songs had crept up a notch to #16.
So this week's leap frog 9-16, well sold by Casey in 1984, was unexpected.

I need to go back for the specific week that "Please Don't Go" took a big leap, but it had a ton of baby steps getting to the top. So many there would eventually be five songs that would jump it on their way to #1, only for KC to match them in January of 1980 with the top position.

If you ever want to teach how inaccurate charting was (or corrupt depending on your thought process) look no further that that amazing 10/20/79 show. That action was willllllllllld up and down the 40.

And "Still" would even have a crazier ride, going up IIRC from 38 to 10 while "Heartache Tonight"debuted IIRC at like number 15. That crazy move from The Commodores would eventually lead them to a wild stat: The song that spent the least weeks between 11-40 that went to #1. Two weeks for "Still": one at the beginning of its run, and one on its way down.

Air Supply had made a modest climb up the charts until they made a gargantuan 8-21 this week in 1980 w/All Out Of Love.
