On AT40: The 70's 8/27/1977: Was the Extra of "Suspicious Minds Live" originally about 7 minutes? It was edited by Premiere on AT40: The 70's to about 4 minutes. Yes, it was.

Also: The AT40: The 70's 8/28/1971 episode had shorting on the #4 song of "Mercy Mercy Me" by Marvin Gaye - about a minute and a 1/2 played or was it my imagination?

That was 'Mercy Mercy Me (the Ecology)". The follow-up single to "What's Going On". Both from the same landmark album of the same name.

On AT40: The 80's 8/31/1985 show, the start of the 3rd. hour following Larry Morgan's intro had the #20 jingle but omitted start of hour intro with Dr. Pepper sponsor plug, I guess.

Yep, been that way every time I heard the show beginning in 2014. Not sure if Premiere re-edited the open at all, since the first part could have been left in, as opposed to just jumping right into the #20 jingle. Just heard the original copy over the weekend as I was traveling.

And it's too bad Premiere stopped running vintage radio commercials for Certs and Dentyne in the 1971 AT40: The 70's shows since circa mid-late 2010's.

On AT40: The 70's 9/22/1979 "The Boss" by Diana Ross had the first chorus and second verse cut out - Premiere edit or not? This was definitely Premiere. I don't remember hearing an original edit until summer, maybe fall 1980 after the expansion to 4 hours. Remember, early in the 4-hour era (which this was), there was a lot of extra time to fill. By the mid 1980s, the original edits started increasing a little bit, and by 1987 and especially 1988, there were a few more. If your favorite song was in its last week or two in the bottom half, it frequently got targeted for an edit.

On the 9/27/1975 show, the 45 version of "Miracles" had additional editing. They cut out the sax solo near the end. Does anybody know if this was Premiere or an original AT40 edit. "Get Down Tonight" tonight also seemed shortened beyond the 45 version. Was this Premiere or AT40?

AT40: The 70's 9/29/1973 which I am listening via WVLI Kankakee this Saturday afternoon had the first chorus that goes "Listen to my heart pound, listen to my love sound..." edited out! - must be a Premiere edit!
