OK, here's my two cents' worth for this thread - is it me, or was the second verse cut from "Land Of Confusion" more often than not?

Off-topic, but on the September 2, 2006 episode of AT20, Casey played Naked Eyes' "Promises, Promises" and one verse was played twice. Sounded like they needed to fill some leftover time so they could meet the show's required recording time.

That's not off topic in here! Whatever happened on a show that can be attributed to human production in the studio is all fair game!

In about a year and a half I'll get to it, but the worst edit in countdown show history had to be on an episode of Casey's Top 40 in 1995. They edited "You Don't Know How it Feels" to the point I thought XL 106.7 had messed something up. But alas I was in the car the next day when it replayed and the same thing happened. IIRC, here is how it went "so let's get to the point, let's hit another joint and turn the rahead on down the road. There's somewhere I gotta goooooo"

There was an AT40 in August '89, where in the middle of Simply Red's "If You Don't Know Me By Now", where there was a massive skip that just kept looping one lyric over and over for about 30 seconds. I always wondered if that was my local station's fault or if it was a production error.

What was funny is that it happened on CT as well. When "One Week" was number one they looped the second verse at least twice in one of its weeks. I don't know when technology changed, but I would assume by 1998 they would have been able to do something else besides looping the song. I found it funny that Shadoe's show gets blasted for it but CT has always slid for the same practice. One Week was in AT40 version 2. CT40 ceased to exist in March 98. There was a song that was looped on Casey's last AT40 in January, 2004, but I can't remember what song it was.

That music bed loop is also done for shows such as '20, the countdown magazine', with our Brother, Jon Rivers.

Just about EVERY time 'I ain't gonna stand for it''s played, the 2nd verse gets edited out. Some respect, please, for Stevie!

That music bed loop is also done for shows such as '20, the countdown magazine', with our Brother, Jon Rivers. Can't stand him. He wrecked the show 16 years ago. And as long as he host it (which I assume will be until he dies or it goes away since he owns it) I refuse to listen. The shows only hope came in the ownership dispute of 2003/2004 but unfortunately the court sided with Rivers. Not that I have to even worry about it. They have nowhere close to the number of affiliates they used to and the ones on their website are not even accurate. They've updated since but they had 106.5 in Jacksonville as an affiliate for like 10 years after they had axed it. In fact, in an email exchange with the pd he axed it for the reasons I hated the show. The station itself moved frequencies and 106.5 became a news talk simulcast in 2006 but 20 still had it listed as an affiliate and continued for YEARS after to list it.

I listen to 2 Christian countdown shows a week. So, yes. I have to edit part of one since the host delves into his own personal life and I couldn't care less about it or him. But it's at the same point every week so I know where to edit the 1 minute out without having to hear it.

Ugh, this topic made me remember how bad ABC made Shadoe sound. The guy definitely had the voice and talent to talk dry without being over music nearly as good as Casey could. Looping definitely my #1 AT40 "pet peeve". No wonder the show died a slow death.

I mentioned this to Paul, and we both agreed that AT 40 from 1988 to 1991 was a better product than CT 40. I agree with you, adam31, that looping was part of the beginning of the end.

This doesn't have to do with looping but it hit me yesterday when I listened to the 11/20/93 AT40 that Shadoe doesn't even give a rundown or acknowledge what #1 was last week at the start of the show. Then it dawned on me that's not the first time that had happened. Its almost like they were saying "well, #1 hasn't changed so lets not draw attention to it" but in turn they actually drew more attention and tipped their hand Ace of Base was #1 at the beginning of the show with this practice.

You've been listening to 1993 straight, Paul. Did they do that more often than not starting in that year? When did it become noticeable for you?
