I always thought that Marcy Levy was the backup singer on 'Wonderful tonight'. She is, as well as on "Lay Down Sally" and "Promises".

Ain't Nothing Gonna Keep Me From You -Teri Desario ft. Barry Gibb (#43). You mean something from BG didn't reach the top 40 in 1978?

How about: Chicago featuring the Beach Boys - "Wishing You Were Here" Foreigner featuring Tom Bailey - "I Want to Know What Love Is" Culture Club featuring Jermaine Stewart - "Miss Me Blind" Stevie Nicks featuring Sandy Stewart - "Nightbird"

dth1971: I would guess that "I Want To Know What Love Is" would be by Foreigner featuring The New Jersey Mass Choir, with Tom Bailey and Jennifer Holiday.

Like this thread. Got a lot of knowledge about AT40 and pop music but learning tidbits in this thread. Did not know that was Patti "Baby Come to Me" Austin singing backup on one of my fave songs "Swearin' to God" or that Jermaine "We Don't Have to Take Our Clothes Off" Stewart was singing backup on another fave "Miss Me Blind".
May as well add in one myself that I wondered about for years before figuring out who it was singing backup on the Supremes last #1 hit.
"Someday We'll Be Together"...label says Diana Ross & the Supremes. Should say Diana Ross featuring Johnny Bristol. It was a Diana solo record in actuality and featured the backing vocals of Johnny "Hang On In There Baby" Bristol.

How about "Just a Dream" by Cathy Dennis featuring Danny D, a member of D-Mob (On an AT40 episode in 1991, Shadoe Stevens mentioned it was Danny D of D-Mob singing backup and not Rick Astley)

Chaka Khan should also be featured on Stephen Bishop's "Save It For A Rainy Day". Also Chicago's "Take Me Back To Chicago" though it didn't make the Top 40. Also on Quincy Jones' Top 40 hit from 1978 "Stuff Like That". Actually it would be Quincy Jones ft. Ashford & Simpson and Chaka

James Last Band ft. David Sanborn: The Seduction Pretty much ANY song that David Sanborn played on would qualify.
