So last year after singing it loud and drunkenly I found out that in “The Boys of Summer,” the lyric is NOT “I can see you, your breast is shining in the sun”
True story.

We lost power for a couple of hours here today, so I resorted to commercial radio for awhile - Classic Rock
And I finally now got around to looking up this one from 1978 -
It's - All your sickness, I can suck it up
not
Something something something I can suck a duck.
Okay then.
And this one from '85 -
It's - Soldier on. Only you can do what must be done.
not
So, Gerard, only you can do what must be done.

I just realized about a week ago that Mitch Ryder didn't sing "she's a real humdinger and a knife in my back".
I thought he was obviously saying the woman was attractive but hey, also a devil, so - knife in my back - Makes sense, right? And yes I know it's a remake but it was a huge hit for Mitch.

Y'know sometimes it might be helpful to mention the song title on some of these misheard lyrics--unless somebody had just one hit. It reminds me of a funny commercial from a few years back when people sang the wrong lines from Elton John's Rocket Man.
By the way, I used to sing wrong lyrics to this one myself--I think many of Elton's biggest hits in the 1970's were difficult to decipher ALL the words. Perhaps Elton went to Mick Jagger's school of how to mumble through the lyrics.

I'm a few weeks late with this one, but in Last Christmas I thought George was singing
A crowded room, friends with tie-dyes.

Another one that hasn't been mentioned: In Elton's Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting, the line "I've had it with your discipline" has always sounded like "I've had it with your Death Star plan."

I always thought Carefree Highway by Gordon Lightfoot was Every Highway, which caused him to reflect and think (but I guess it has to be those country roads without much traffic that allow your mind to wander--better not do that in tough city traffic).

Wow I wonder if George Lucas heard it that way too.

I always thought Carefree Highway by Gordon Lightfoot was Every Highway Me too, a long time ago.

Do It Again
"Now you swear and kick and beg us that you're not a gamblin' man"
Ha ha I thought it was "Now you swear to Dick and Mavis".

In Big Time, Peter Gabriel says, "And my heaven will be a big heaven." But he doesn't enunciate the last word very well, so for a long time I thought he was saying, "And my heaven will be a big hell."
