Didn't care for Dancing On The Ceiling then, but love now. He had a knack for love/hate songs. Very catchy stuff. I mentioned this one earlier but Casey is playing it right now, so it reminded me. I thought Emotional Rescue was ridiculous back then, but I love it now. It is such a great lazy hazy humid summer song - it reminds me of Spill The Wine in that way.

Another one I did a 180 on is "99 Balloons". Once I was walking in the opposite direction of the radio when it came on. I did a 180 so I could change the channel.

Paul will be here all week. Try the veal. Tip your waitress. (Or is it tip the veal & try your waitress? ) Anyway, as for "99 Luftballoons", I prefer the English version over the German version.

A 180 turn from bad to good for me... "Stand Back" by Stevie Nicks. I loved her voice in songs such as Dreams, Gold Dust Woman, and Edge Of Seventeen. But when I heard the first two lines of Stand Back... I thought she sounded like a goat... couldn't stand her voice in the song. As the song was dropping down AT40, I finally saw the video to the song, and I was hooked. Seeing the images of Stevie in both the black and white dresses, along with finally hearing the song in its entirety... it's now one of my favorite songs by her. Ever since then, I have made sure to hear a song in its entirety before deciding if I like it or not.

There aren't too many songs that I've turned around on....
but one is "Centerfold" by J.Geils Band. I loved that song in '82, but wow it's hard for me to take now.
and while I still like the song, I find that "Total Eclipse of the Heart" tends to last way too long. I never thought so back in the day.

I seem to have shifted on Steve Winwood. Apart from "Valerie," I didn't care for much of his 80s work, but both "Higher Love" and "Roll With It" have grown on me over the years.

After the infectious, discoy flavored Crazy Little Thing and 'Dust I thought Body Language was awful noise. But now I can more than tolerate this forgotten Queen near top tenner.

I wasn't a big Dirty Dancing fan, but upon compared to all the other crappy music from 1987, I can more than tolerate it now.

I don't know if it was because there was so little else I liked on the radio in the late 80/early 90s and Bon Jovi was the best of a weak lot, so I became a fan. But now if I hear You Give You or 'Prayer again, I think I am gonna puke.

Also, there was a lot of Madonna, Prince, Whitney that radio shoved down our throats that I didn't like then and cringe over now. Batdance...worst #1 of all time?

I never liked "Two of Hearts" by Stacey Q, but now, it's one of the songs to which I look forward most when I listen to countdowns with it included. I guess, since I now like "We Connect" by Stacey Q, I have done a 180 on her, too.
