Didn't reach AT40 but since it was an extra this week: I Love L.A.
Hate New York City It's cold and it's damp And all the people dressed like monkeys

I doubt Break My Stride would get past many programmers today with it's China and laundry thing. No great loss either, IMO.

Another for the B files would be "Bad Blood" by Neil Sedaka. Also I remember reading one of the cue sheets. Didn't they give a warning out to stations about "Bat Out of Hell" by Meatloaf? Speaking of Bad Blood, I was listening to a February 1975 show a few days ago, and there was a "story bed" Casey used that started just like the beginning of the intro to Bad Blood. These beds often seemed to be based on hits, but not hits still to come! I wonder which prior hit started like that. There probably was one.

Paul Simon's 1973 hit "Kodachrome" contained the line "When I think back on all the crap I learned in high school",I don't think a lot of stations had that problem-The only one that did was WABC in New York-They deleted that particular word.

I heard the lyrics drop at that point in Albany, too. It sounded smooth enough that it didn't occur to me then or now that Columbia didn't offer that version.

"Shaving Cream" by Benny Bell stalled at #30 in the spring of 1975-I'm thinking a lot of radio programmers were skittish about playing a song that made an indirect reference to fecal matter.

I remember when "Kodachrome" was a hit, some stations would play a modified version where parts of the first and second verses were spliced together to avoid that c-word. In this censored version, the song would began, "When I think back on all the girls I knew when I was single, it's a wonder I can think at all".
