Mark said Frey's countdown album contained his biggest hits like Smugglers Blues? The Heat Is On, You Belong To the City?? Neither were on Allnighter.

Mark said Frey's countdown album contained his biggest hits like Smugglers Blues? The Heat Is On, You Belong To the City?? Neither were on Allnighter. "The Allnighter" did include Smuggler's Blues, as well as Sexy Girl. The other two were of course soundtrack hits, though Smuggler's Blues did help lead to You Belong To the City, as it inspired a Miami Vice episode in which Glenn appeared, so it was natural that he'd contribute to its soundtrack.

Alan said Missing You would reach #1 in a week or two... it got there on the 9/22 panel. Then he said Tina's Together was from 1983. It charted in this same 1984 countdown year.

After the countdown ended they played "The Glamorous Life" and "The Lucky One" back to back. Just like last year...

After the countdown ended they played "The Glamorous Life" and "The Lucky One" back to back. Just like last year... This isn't unique to 80s on 8. Last weekend after Casey's 1972 show the station played several songs ("Beautiful Sunday", "Lean On Me", and others) that had just appeared in the countdown.

He’s not wrong about Tina Turner’s “Let’s Stay Together” it was recorded and released in 1983 in the UK, released in the States in January 1984.

Alan had an error when going over the changes in Chicago. He advised Will Champlin joined the band in 1981 - but that would be his father Bill. It's a Hard Habit To Break. Alan did the same this week saying Chicago's countdown song was Cetera and 'Will" Champlin

These errors are a Hard Habit To Break. Alan said Chicago's countdown song was nominated for an Oscar? Could he have been thinking about Stevie's Just played I Love You??

You know how much I hate relying on Wiki, but it says Prince met Sheila E. in 1977, much more believable than Alan's claim they met in countdown year 1984

While I am still peeved about the change in "Cruel Summer"'s tag from the correct (84) to (83), (the latter likely reflects its (Bananarama native) UK release/charting date, but still), it should be noted that Peabo Bryson's still-peaking countdown entry lacks the word "Again" on its display.

Alan placed Romantics What I Like in 1979; charted on Hot 100 in 1980.
